It's disheartening to hear that my sister-in-law received a distressing call, informing her that unless she paid £4000 right away, there would be a warrant issued for her arrest. She ended up borrowing the money from her grandfather and promptly made the payment. This situation deeply saddens me as they are a diligent family with three young children who definitely do not deserve to go through such challenges.

This number left me a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC. When I rang back, a bloke with a strong accent said I was under investigation for dodging income tax. He got some of my info wrong, so I asked to talk to his supervisor and then he just ended the call. I’ve since informed both HMRC and the police because I foolishly handed over my National Insurance number before I realised it was a scam.

Just like a few others have mentioned, I got a call from someone saying they were Dennis Gray from HMRC. They told me it was urgent and that I had to ring them back or else there’d be trouble. Watch out if you do call back though, as the cost is 9p per minute from a landline and probably even higher from a mobile. Trust me, don’t bother calling back!
