Got two calls this morning from someone claiming to be Shirley at BT saying my internet would stop working ‘cause my IP got hacked. They told me to press 1 if I was with BT or 2 if I used another company. Said they’d send a new hub but not sure if they actually do or if it’s set up to let them access your system. Didn’t want to risk it so I just hung up instead of pressing anything.

Got a call from a robotic female voice saying she was from BT! Said my phone line was going to get cut off today because it’d been hacked in California or something. Heard the same story about five times in one day, but this was from a new number this time.

Received a call shortly after 8:30 am from a man with an Asian accent. He claimed to be from BT Openreach, although I had my doubts. He started talking about our internet connection, but I informed him that we don't use Microsoft and swiftly ended the call. It's high time measures were taken to address this issue. I've previously received calls from this particular number. Today, following the call, I quickly dialed 1471 to obtain the number for my reference. To my surprise, instead of hearing the number, I found myself instantly connected (apparently) to someone with an Asian accent claiming to be from BT. Being cautious, I hastily ended the call, as it seemed like I could be incurring charges. It is high time these scammers were apprehended, brought to justice, and subjected to substantial fines.

Got a call from this number just after 8.30 in the morning, a bloke with an Asian accent pretending to be from BT Openreach, though his English was pretty rough. The usual nonsense about internet issues, so I told him we don’t deal with Microsoft and ended the call. It’s crazy how these calls keep happening. My spouse received a massage from this particular number, informing her that our internet connection would be disconnected within the next 24 hours. I would like to express my gratitude towards a previous post on this website for shedding light on this deceptive phone number.

I’ve reported this number to Action Fraud. The best chance we have to shut these scams down is if loads of people report them, so they can gather enough evidence and take action. I got a call at 08:48 from 01286 333575, some automated message claiming to be TalkTalk Technical Support. I’m not a TalkTalk customer. Then at 08:24, another call from 02476 662710, just silence. Since they came so close together, I’m thinking they might be connected. Both numbers have been reported to Action Fraud. Would recommend everyone else does the same. :)

My 82 year old mum has got three calls in just two days from someone called 'Shirley' claiming to be from the US. She said my mums internet was at risk because of a hacked IP address, and if she didn't press '1' to speak to an engineer, the internet would be disconnected! Got a call again for the third time this week, they said they were from TPS and my membership had expired. They wanted £22 to renew it, I said no but they kept asking for my card info.

Typical BT rubbish. I told Jenny she could have a word with my husband who works as a fraud investigator, and she just hung up straight away. This is the second call like this I’ve had today. Starting to think I might be on some kind of sucker list.

Got a call from an Asian bloke saying he was from TalkTalk’s tech support about my internet issues... yeah, sure! Straight on the BLOCK list!

Somebody called claiming to be from TalkTalk, saying there were issues with my router and that strangers were using my WiFi, slowing it down. They told me to get on the computer so they could help remove some files causing the trouble. When I told them my internet was fine and that no one could use it without the password, they just hung up on me.

About 5 minutes ago someone called saying they were Alex from TalkTalk, trying to chat with my husband about the internet. I just ended the call straight away.

Just got a call from Inland Revenue saying there's an arrest warrant out for me over unpaid taxes. Sounds dodgy to me!

Got called for the third time now, then they just cut off. They rang earlier saying they were from TalkTalk, but when I said I’m with Virgin, they just told me to wait for a call. Then they called again in about 10 minutes saying they were from Virgin this time. They won’t give up, really annoying. Best thing to do is just ignore and hang up.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from TalkTalk. Even tho my internet’s through Virgin, he reckoned TalkTalk handles all the main providers. Said he had my Virgin account number and I could verify it with him to prove he was legit - as if! I told him to just call Virgin themselves if there was any issue, since they have my details anyway. Then I hung up. This kind of call comes in about twice every week, really annoying.

Got a call from a woman sounding American who immediately started telling me that BT Internet was gonna cut off my service unless I hit 1 to stop it. Then it just went silent, before the same message played again, probably a recording. I ended up just hanging up. Not scary or anything, just annoying. Don't fall for it. Just ignore and hang up!

Sounds like yet another one of those spam calls, nearly the same as all the others we get nonstop. Just blocked it and left it ringing! We’re on the TPS list too, so this is really getting annoying! 😤😠

Got a call from some bloke saying he was with BT, saying someone was using my internet. When I told him I wasn’t buying it, he went off asking if I believed in God or something. I just ended the call.

So, they ring me up claiming to be from BT today. I requested some kind of address verification and they said they were based at 88 Newgate Street, London. When I asked for the postcode, they got defensive and asked why I needed it. I explained it would help the police track them down if necessary. After that, the guy started cursing at me - guess I ruffled his feathers somehow.

Had a bloke ring asking for Mr (my surname), which is odd since my number’s not on the list anywhere. I told him if he was going to be cold calling he should at least get my name right first. He got all annoyed and asked why I reckoned it was a cold call before he even said what it was about. Then he said he was hanging up and just did. One of the weirdest calls I’ve had in a long time.

I received an automated message informing me that my phone line was close to being disconnected and I should press option 1. It was quite clear that this was an attempted scam. When I called the number back, their voicemail box was full. Quite amusing, I must say!

This 02476662710 rang up my older folks claiming to be from BT, saying somebody was stealing info through our BT connection. Thing is, we have Virgin internet, so it smelt like a dodgy scam. They asked my mum to switch on her PC, not really sure what their game was. Be careful with this number!

Got a call from what showed up as an international number but there was complete silence on the other end. Quite odd!

Got a call from 02476662710, some robotic voice said my IP was hacked and needed sorting. They told me to press 1 to chat with another agent but then just cut the line. Proper annoying!

Got a robocall saying my internet was gonna be cut off in a day or two because apparently it was hacked by foreign countries. They said I had to change my IP address and told me to press 1 to speak to a tech guy. I just hung up without pressing any buttons!

First, they tried that old nonsense about my Microsoft computer having a problem, then completely lost track and switched to claiming my credit card company had frozen my card. They asked me to have my card ready so I could read out the number, expiry date, and the three digits on the back - some bloke with an accent. I can't believe anyone falls for this and ends up getting scammed. I reported it straightaway to Action Fraud using the number that rang me.

Blimey, I've been told I'll get every penny of that PPI money back! My bank said they'll be giving me a call shortly to sort out the steps for the claim. I'll keep you posted, maybe it'll happen before pigs sprout wings!
