I received a phone call supposedly from British Gas-what a joke! The caller, who identified herself as Jane, first inquired if I was Mrs (my wife). Then she asked whether we were still using British Gas or Southern Electric. I told her 'No.' Then she wanted to know if we had E.on or another provider. I replied, 'No, but why on earth do you want to know that?' When I repeated myself, she abruptly hung up. Clearly, their little script must not include a response for that! So much for British Gas!

this week ive had a couple of odd calls from the same number one was about a BT contract ive never signed up for the other time i answered and there was just silence, couldnt hear a word from the other side!! after reading some other comments here it seems like this number should defo be reported to Action Fraud. they are the uk police backed service that helps catch and investigate scammers.

Got a call from some bloke with what sounded like an Indian or Asian accent asking if my daughter-in-law was there. When I said she wasn’t, he claimed he was ringing from Marks & Spencer and wanted my “Good Name” or something daft like that. I just told him to shove off and made sure he knows not to bother calling again. Number’s blocked now.

After a bit, I hung up on them. They tried phoning back, and I cut them off again. Definitely seemed dodgy, plus the person had a foreign accent. Seemed like a total scam to me.

I got two calls today that really upset me because they kept asking for my husband, who passed away over a decade ago. Then the caller switched to looking for Mrs ##### and when I said I wasn’t in the mood to chat, they got quite rude and pushy. Quite upsetting overall.

Today at around 9:40am, I got a ring from this number. A man with an Indian accent claimed he was calling from Marks and Spencer and asked for my name, postcode, and if I was over 51 years old. After I answered, he just ended the call. I’ve contacted M&S about this and they said they've had loads of similar reports. Obviously, it’s one of those dodgy PPI scams going around now.

Got a call from someone claiming they were with British Gas, but had a really thick Asian accent and was quite hard to follow. Then they said they worked for some firm called Energy Saver, which was confusing since they started off saying they were from British Gas. They asked me if British Gas was my energy provider, which felt odd given their earlier claim. When I pointed that out, they just cut me off. I ended up calling British Gas myself and let them know about the call. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Got a call from a man with an Indian accent who wanted to speak to my husband by name. He claimed he was ringing from ‘The Electric Department’. When I questioned the reason for his call and confirmed if I was Mrs ###, he said he worked for Scottish Power. I told him we aren't customers of Scottish Power, then he switched to say he was with British Gas instead. As soon as I asked what info he needed, he just ended the call.

Got a call from this number, some bloke with an Indian accent saying his name was Stuart and he was ringing on behalf of Tesco. He wanted me to confirm who I was, but I told him I'd get in touch with Tesco myself and then he just ended the call. Tesco said they’ve never heard of him, so don’t give them any info!

I got a call around 11:20pm from a woman with an Asian accent who asked if she was talking to me. I said yes and she wanted to check my postcode, which I gave her. Then she just said thanks and goodbye, and hung up. I called the number back straightaway but it didn’t recognise it. The number started with 02476, which I know is a Coventry area code. I told my phone provider about it but they said there’s nothing they can do.

Got a call from a bloke asking for some "miss". He kept repeating it like three times, no idea who he meant. I stayed silent and he just ended the call. Sounded like a guy, no strong accent I could notice. Most likely just another scam!

At first there was silence, then this bloke with an Indian sort of accent started talking about some claims hotline for banks. He asked if I'd made a claim against a bank before. I told him straight up I don’t deal with banks and that I reckon banks are proper awful, almost like they’re connected to the Devil or summat. He hung up right after. Definite SCAM. P.S.
