I got a call from this number claiming to be the Telecom Preference Service. The chap on the line insisted that all cold calls would be a thing of the past. He asked me to confirm various details, such as my name, address, payment method, and the year my debit card expires. Then he wanted me to verify the month of expiry. I threw out an incorrect answer, and he said that was off, so I offered another which he accepted. However, when I checked my card, it turned out I’d misremembered yet again. He then proceeded to ask for my sort code and account number. That was my cue to say cheerio and hang up. Immediately thereafter, he tried calling back, but I hung up on him. He then called from a number that came up as unavailable, which I also ignored. After a few more persistent calls from different numbers, I finally had enough and told him to clear off. Still, he had the audacity to ring me thrice more after that!
