9 yearsHad a call from BT with the same old excuse, telling me to get on my computer to fix something. Told them to do one straight away. The number they called from was 024490878758. When I ended the call, they rang back saying my internet would be cut off in an hour if I didn’t sort out some issue with my router online. My internet’s still working fine though. Total scam, just hung up on them.9 yearsI received a rather dubious call from this number claiming my internet router was malfunctioning. They prompted me to visit the Play Store and enter a specific word, but nothing of interest appeared. Then, the caller inquired about my bank and other personal details. I promptly refused to share any information, despite their insistence that they were legitimately representing BT and requested my PIN. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!Play StoreBT9 yearsReceived a call claiming to be from BT, talking about an issue we’re having. Fair enough, we do have an internet problem, so I was curious. But when they mentioned we’d be offline for four days and wanted to access my computer, that was too much! No way I was letting that happen, so I promptly terminated the conversation.BT9 yearsWhen I picked up the phone, there was this awkward pause before anyone talked, so I figured it was some automated random dialler. The caller never asked for me by name, which was pretty clear they had no clue who they were ringing, even though they claimed to be from BT. Then, out of the blue, they said there were issues deep in my computer and tried to “assist” me. I wasn’t buying it when I called them out for being a scammer. The chat got really hostile when I said I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Not impressed at all.BT9 yearsGot two calls from this number today. The people on the line had Indian accents and said they were from the BT head office. I told them straight up they weren’t, and that they were calling from India. They just ended the call after that. This isn’t the first time I’ve had calls like this. When I’ve talked to them before, they’ve claimed my internet was being hacked and asked how close I was to my router. I just hung up on them.BTUKIndia9 yearsI didn't pick up, I figured it was dodgy. Reported it to Action Fraud just to be safe. Don't bother answering, it's definitely a scam.Action Fraud9 yearsOn the morning of 21 September 2017, my workshop phone rang a few times but I didn’t answer straight away since I was tied up. When I finally checked the voicemail, all I could hear was some weird background sounds. Eventually, I picked up and the caller said they were from BT. After having a look at some of the comments here, it seems like this might have been a scammer attempting to access my system.BT9 yearsSomeone said they were from BT, said my internet was going to be cut off because of some calls or something.BT9 yearsi just let it ring through to answerphone. couldn’t hear a thing, total silence. normally if it’s a genuine call, someone says something. defo a sales pitch or scam trying to get through.9 yearsPicked up the phone, but all I got was some weird noise in the background.9 yearsSomebody called saying they were from BT and tried to get me to use the computer to fix an internet problem. I just hung up on them straight away, and guess what - they actually called me again! What nerve!BT9 yearsI had a rather peculiar encounter earlier today with a person purporting to be "Carol Smith" from BT, who spoke with a rather unique accent. She informed me that my internet was under some sort of threat, with over twenty devices supposedly connected to it, and that I was somehow a target of hackers allegedly operating out of Manchester. According to her, my internet service would be cut off for a whole three weeks unless I granted access to my computer for them to rectify this dire situation. I kept pressing her for more information, only for them to abruptly terminate the call. It was rather amusing, to say the least!Carol SmithBTManchester9 yearsI received two calls earlier today, both of which ended the moment I picked up. Then, I got a call from a Private Number, which I have a strong suspicion is related. I've decided to block the number and report them.9 yearsThey called saying they were from BT and claimed someone was using my internet while I was asleep. I told them I was on a desktop, not a laptop, and they seemed pretty happy about that. Then they told me to press the control, windows, and r keys at the same time. I didn’t do it and just ended the call there. Feels like pressing those keys would’ve let them in or something dodgy like that?BT9 yearsGot a call supposedly from BT saying there was a problem with my internet - total nonsense. I just told them to get lost and blocked the number straight away!BT9 yearsGot a call from this number and they just told me to piss off.9 yearsI just received a call from someone claiming to be from BT, stating that I was a victim of a scam. Definitely sounded like a scam to me!9 yearsThe call was just a bunch of static and then they ended it abruptly.Submit Your Own Report (24490878909)
