Got a phone call from some guy called John, who said he was from BT and claimed there was an issue with my router. I kept him hanging for a bit before he twigged I wasn’t taking him seriously. Such a time waster!

some guy named robert rang me claiming he was from bt openreach, i told him i wasnt buying it and asked him to take my number off whatever list he had. then i just hung up on him.

They rang me again and the person who answered sounded Asian and said they were calling from BT. We just hung up straight away.

I've been getting calls non-stop from this number lately - 02435 365 490. When I pick up, it’s either dead silence or no one speaks, and if it goes to voicemail, all you can hear is background noise like a call centre or sometimes just a quick 'goodbye'. It’s pretty annoying and feels almost like harassment, especially since it happens on a private, unlisted UK landline that's mostly used for broadband and emergencies. Even on a bank holiday in August! It's really frustrating. If this is you, please stop.

Got a call on my work phone, so I picked up and said, "How can I assist?" All I got was silence and then they just ended the call. Like others have said, it’s definitely some kind of scam - best to avoid it completely!

When I picked up and said hello, there was no response, just loads of noise in the background, like a crowded place - maybe an airport lounge or a train station. After a bit of that, we just hung up.

Got a call for my elderly mum today, and she handed me the phone ’cause she didn’t really get what was going on. The person on the line had this strong Indian accent, claiming there was an issue with her internet and broadband. Then they said her computer was infected with some dangerous virus that could spread - they wanted money to fix it! I was like, hang on, are you planning to provide a new computer and broadband first before sorting it out? Next thing, the phone was put down on me. Total scam, no doubt about it.

I haven't a clue who was on the other end of this number, as they hung up just as I reached for the phone. If it’s someone ringing on behalf of BT, I reckon I’ve received over twenty calls this year alone, and they’re using all sorts of different numbers. It's peculiar how these unfamiliar digits keep claiming to be from BT. It really is about time that BT took some action regarding this - they seem uninterested in resolving the matter at all. It’s rather frustrating, especially since today is a Bank Holiday Monday; we could really use a bit of peace. I've been inundated with calls from people claiming to be from BT in the weeks leading up to that major cyber incident!

We got a call from this number at 11 at night! We’re both in our sixties and my husband is battling cancer, so it really upset us.

Yet another call with an Asian accent, claiming to be from British Telecom regarding my home phone. Strange thing is, he didn't utter a word before hanging up on me.
