I got a ring from an Indian lady, and when I mentioned that cold calling is against the rules and told her we’re registered on the TPS, she quickly cut me off with "I'll cross your number off" before I'd even got the chance to finish. She started by asking for Mr _____, and when I said that wasn't me, she then asked if I was related to him in any way.

One way to deal with these calls is to mess around and stall them, which can actually be quite amusing. Another trick is to just keep repeating "Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?" - that seems to annoy them quite a bit. Or, you could just hit mute so they're stuck with nothing but silence. He asked if I was the person he wanted and when I said yes, he then asked if I’d had a nice day (which is usually a red flag for me). The bloke spoke with a heavy Asian accent, but too quick to really understand. When I asked who he was ringing about, he said ‘Today's Habits’. Then I asked where he got my number from, he said it was me and then just hung up straightaway.

On 31/08/2017, someone phoned me and already knew my name. They wanted me to confirm my number, but as soon as I said they had dialled the wrong one and I wasn’t going to confirm anything, they just cut off. Weirdly, they kept insisting it couldn’t be a wrong number since I answered the call!
