4 yearsI had a couple of calls from someone claiming to be from Windows Ltd, a company supposedly in south London. They rang me twice on the 5th of May around 10:47am and then again at about 3:11pm. Every time, the first thing they asked was if I was the homeowner. On the second call, I told them I’d already been asked the same question earlier and asked to be taken off their call list. After that, no more calls. It’s baffling why Ofcom can’t just switch off the ability for these scammers to fake numbers, so they can be properly tracked down and the culprits dealt with.Windows LtdSouth LondonOfcom4 yearsI received an unexpected automated call claiming to be from a double glazing firm, suggesting they could replace all the windows and doors in my home. I politely turned down their proposal since my windows and doors were only just installed a few months back.4 yearsGot a call supposedly from a company about window grants for ones over 10 years old. When I asked who exactly they were trying to reach, they just cut me off and ended the call. Suspicious!4 yearsJust after noon, this number rang me but I couldn’t pick up in time.4 yearsThe person claimed they were from a local company but it was one of those automated calls with awkward silences waiting for you to say something. They said it wasn’t a sales pitch, just giving a heads up about some service coming nearby soon, then started asking if I use local tradespeople. I just said no thanks and hung up. Later, I looked it up and apparently it’s some marketing outfit. Why don’t they just be honest about what it is?! Proper frustrating.4 yearsHad a call from someone named Sam, said he was with a window firm. Bit suspicious if you ask me.Sam4 yearsI got a call that sounded like it was from a window firm, but I reckon it was one of those robocalls. They didn’t say much and it definitely seemed automated.4 yearsI tried calling back but no luck with the number, just sounded like a quick check or something. Not sure what that was about.4 yearsBeware of phishing scams! If you get any suspicious calls or messages, you should report them straight to the police fraud site. Just search for ‘action fraud’ on Google, then head to the ‘police.uk’ website. Find the section for ‘report a phishing attempt’ and read all the info provided. Fill out the form with as many details as possible, like any links or website addresses you’ve come across. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you actually lost money in the scam. The only way for the police to track and fight these scams is if we all report them.Action Fraud4 yearsthis bloke said he worked for a firm that supplied info about local tradespeople. i asked why i'd want that, and he just kept talking over me when i said he had no business phoning me out of the blue. he said he wasn’t trying to sell me anything, but that’s rubbish. he was definitely offering a service on behalf of someone else, so he was getting paid for it.4 yearsCalled me three times but never left a message.4 yearsGot a call from 02394200684 but no clue who it was. Strange, really.4 yearsAbsolutely, this is a dodgy operation! I just had a look at Windows Ltd on the Companies House website, and it appears they went bust earlier this year. Clearly, the fraudster-who goes by the name Sam-has chosen a firm he assumes folks won’t bother to investigate.
