This company called Hothouse Energy claims they can help you save energy and cut costs around the house... but the moment they start asking for your name, I still had to prompt them to actually say who they were. Pretty dodgy not to introduce themselves first.

It’s good to see someone mention that the caller is from Hot House Energy - now I’ll be prepared if they ring again. Honestly, the best thing with those annoying calls is to just have an answerphone. When they call and only hear your message, chances are it’s just salespeople or dodgy scams. So it’s better not to answer at all. That way, you’re safe from any scams or unexpected charges.

Got a call from this number on my home phone around lunchtime on Saturday. I could hear some faint noises and someone breathing in the back. I tried saying hello a few times but no one answered, so I just ended the call.

When I picked up they just cut the call straight away. I rang them back loads but all I got was weird ringing, then some music, and finally a recorded voice saying, "sorry your message was too short, please leave a longer one". Bit odd since it never actually told me to leave any message at all.

They called me two times already, and every time I hear some noises and heavy breathing in the background before they just cut the call. This usually happens in the evening between 6 and 8.

She mentioned the name of the company but it was so unclear I couldn’t make it out. She quickly said she wouldn’t keep me long and seemed to be pitching something about the house, something about the government supposedly paying us £100 towards it. When I told her we were on the Telephone Preference Service list, she said she’d connect me to her manager. The manager then assured me they’d take us off their calling list. I was surprised she did actually use my name. These calls are getting so annoying, we really wish someone would step in and put an end to them soon.
