A rather dodgy phone call from a chap named Aiden based in Portsmouth caught my attention recently. He wanted to rope me into a monthly charge of £1.90, claiming it would enable me to connect a phone box to my home line. Quite absurd, honestly! I kindly reminded him that I could easily block annoying calls for free via the official Telephone Preference Service. At least he wasn't trying to hide his number, but he still dished out the same old spiel about nuisance calls "in your area" - total nonsense, if you ask me!
