somebody has copied my phone number and is pretending to be me. yesterday i got nearly 100 calls from folks saying i was the one ringing them. i told bt about it and they said they’ll fix it within a day. if you get a call from my number, just don’t pick up.

Someone rang me saying they were from British Gas, saying there was an issue with my meter number not matching my address. They asked me to email them a copy of my most recent bill. I said no, and after that they kept calling over and over, sometimes shouting when I asked them to leave the phone alone. It was really annoying.

Got a call from a guy called Jordan McKenzie, said he was from Scottish Power. He started going on about CNG needing our meter MPN numbers, claiming there was a massive mistake on a £3500 bill and they were gonna take the money from us. I told him, “that’s your mistake, not ours - sort it with a credit note.” Plus, we’d just paid a bill from CNG a couple days before, why would there be another one? I’m a company director, and it was obvious this was a scam from the way he kept messing up. He got quite pushy, but luckily he met someone who wasn’t having any of it.

Got a call from an Asian woman saying she was from Opus, but this had been happening for a few weeks so I ended up hanging up on her. Then an Asian bloke rang me right back and gave me a right telling off for hanging up, claiming he was from Opus too. The other day he threatened to cut off our supply, so I asked why it still wasnt disconnected and who he actually was. Not shockingly, he just hung up on me.

Got a call saying they were from SSE, asking about info from our last bill. When I told them to send something in writing first, they just hung up.
