I got a call from a bloke saying my credit card payment was on hold. He had my name and where I live, which freaked me out a bit. Before I could give anything away, my son jumped in and cut the call off. Glad we didn’t share any details!

Somebody called pretending to be from my card provider and asked for my online login details. I got suspicious so I phoned the card company straight away, and they told me it was a scam. Definitely a dodgy call!

Credit card fraud alert! This is a shifty, risky, and deceitful operation.

I received a call claiming my Barclay card had been frozen due to some unusual activity. They requested a portion of my card number, but I decided against providing it and chose to call them back instead. Instead, I contacted the fraud department using the number listed on my card. To my relief, they confirmed that no one from their office had tried to reach out to me!

I received a voicemail from HMRC claiming it was urgent and needed an immediate reply. Then, I had another call that same afternoon from 01143609537 with almost the same warning. I ended up reporting both calls to [email protected].

These robocall scammers still need to learn their craft. I just had a robotic female voice claiming to be from ‘HMRC’ tell me to ring a specific number right away - she repeated it twice for good measure. Then she ended with “Prepare for the legal consequences. Take care and goodbye.” Honestly, if I could give a tip to whoever made this script, it’d be to drop the “take care” right after threatening legal trouble, otherwise it just sounds odd and not very intimidating.

I picked up the phone as it was ringing, but it just cut off right after one ring. Got the exact same voicemail message as others mentioned. Feels like a total scam to me.

Certain folks really shouldn’t be in any group if they’re just out to exploit others because they can’t be bothered to do things properly. They try to frighten people and scam them by playing on their worries. The HMRC wouldn’t use phone numbers anything like the ones these scammers ring from. It’s definitely a SCAM.

I got a call from 02392161231 saying they were with HMRC. They warned me about some "consequences" if I didn't ring back. Luckily, I saw through their dodgy scam, but I bet some people might get caught out. The number was from Portsmouth and the woman had a really proper English accent. Why doesn’t BT do something to block these calls? It's just awful!

Got a call from 02392161231 claiming to be from HMRC, with a posh English lady warning me about "consequences" if I didn’t ring back. Sounded like a proper scam, and I was lucky enough not to get caught out. It’s a Portsmouth number, by the way. I don’t get how BT just lets this keep happening - it’s really nasty behaviour! Hopefully no one else gets tricked.

Got a call from this number on my phone earlier, saying it was from HMRC. Had a recorded voice and sounded pretty intimidating. The bit that really got me was when it warned about “facing the consequences” - really creepy! I reckon loads of folks might panic and call them right back. Such nasty scammers. I’m blocking this number right now, no chance I’m answering again.

I had a rather alarming phone call purportedly from HMRC, urging me to ring a specific number without delay. They warned ominously against ignoring it, suggesting that solicitors would come knocking if I did. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to jot down the number because I didn’t have something to write with at the time. I suppose I’ll just sit back and see if these solicitors ever bother to reach out. Seems like another dodgy scam to me! Stay sharp, everyone!
