Genuine HMRC never contacts by phone or uses automated messages for such matters, always sending letters instead. Callers often hang up abruptly or keep victims on expensive lines when returned. Nobody from the government or any official organisation will ever ring you up on your mobile or landline to say you owe money, have messed up your taxes, or cheated the state. If you get calls or messages like that, just block the number straight away. It's important to warn your mates, relatives, and especially older people nearby so they don’t get caught out by these tricks. Let’s all help keep our community protected from these scams.

Got a call from 01331298947 telling me if I didn’t pick up, there’d be a warrant out for my arrest over tax fraud. Bit worrying!

Just a heads up, HMRC never sends texts or emails out of the blue! It's getting serious now because these scammers have started using this website pretending to be legit. Honestly, why don't they find a proper job instead of messing about with this? It's really getting dangerous out there.

I don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t know, so I just got a voicemail. The robotic message sounded pretty threatening, but I just ignored it. Still, I can see how it might really frighten some folks who are more vulnerable. They really need to be stopped.

This call was from some dodgy outfit named Wavecrest, supposedly a UK company. Their site makes you think you've stumbled onto some dodgy police drama or something. The voicemail I got said something like "The (mumbled) has rung today, don’t panic, we’ll be in touch," obviously trying to get me to phone back and waste my cash. What clowns. Honestly, if I bumped into these muppets out and about, I might just tail them and scratch a little reminder on their car windows with my key.

I missed the call but later got a voicemail with a robotic voice saying it was HMRC and that I supposedly owe them cash. Just so you know, HMRC doesn’t ring you up out of the blue - they always send a letter first if you owe anything.

This is just wrong, the police really need to get involved with this. Also, the way they spoke was seriously intimidating, no government worker would speak like that. If I manage to figure out who did this, I’m definitely gonna do something about it.

Got a call just like this one, warning me about some sort of tax arrest. I'm planning on reporting it to the cops first thing tomorrow.

Got a call just like loads of others, spouting the same rubbish. I work with the actual HMRC and they’d never use a robo call like that, plus they always send letters if there’s an issue. Wish I knew who these muppets are - they’d seriously have me chasing them down. Proper lowlifes, the lot of them.

Had a call just yesterday, and they told me there’d be big trouble if I didn’t ring back. I was pretty sure it was a scam, but I decided to humour them and see what nonsense they’d come out with. The bloke on the other end was really rude, sounded like he had a strong Indian or Asian accent, and said his name was John Parker. When I asked for proof or challenged him, he told me I was crazy and then just slammed the phone down!

Received a voicemail from a robotic voice claiming to be HMRC. Since I just started working for myself, I rang back. An Asian gentleman answered and I accidentally gave him my name but no other details! He claimed I owed more than £4,000 in unpaid tax from 2015-2016, though I was on PAYE then. When I asked how they calculated that amount, he just kept saying ‘because they did’ and then ended the call. Absolute con. Be careful everyone!
