I had a rather odd experience when a woman with an Indian accent rang me, saying she was making a promotional call on behalf of Carphone Warehouse. Naturally, I quizzed her about whether my number was in their records, but she abruptly hung up on me. I then reached out to Carphone Warehouse, which has since rebranded as CURRYS, only to find out that they're not doing any phone promotions at all and are fully aware of this scam. Quite concerning, isn't it?

I received a call from someone who cheerfully greeted me with, “Hello darling, how’s your day going?” When I pressed for his identity and questioned the use of 'darling' as a term of endearment, he simply hung up. There was a distinctly Indian accent and I could hear what sounded like a busy call centre buzzing in the background.
