I received a call from someone claiming to be ‘Liam from BT’, who sought our Director by their first name, proposing a shift to an online telephony solution. Alarmingly, he breached GDPR regulations by divulging sensitive details about projects he’s handling for other companies and seemed utterly clueless when I brought it up! After conducting a quick search, it became clear he wasn’t affiliated with BT at all. His lack of understanding regarding client confidentiality was quite concerning, so I decided to take charge of the conversation. When I pointed this out, he abruptly claimed he was hanging up because I was being uncooperative and rude! After the fact, I reached out to BT directly and they confirmed it was indeed a scam.

Received a call from someone claiming to be Liam, representing BT. He inquired whether we utilise an ISDN line and its current usage. I wasn't keen on chatting with a bloke I don’t know over the phone, so when I expressed my reluctance, he threatened to disconnect it. It feels rather dodgy-definitely seemed like a pushy sales tactic or perhaps even a scam.
