I reckon this was one of those dodgy broadband scams. The bloke on the phone literally yelled at me, asking if I had a telly (like, who doesn't these days?). When I tried to have a proper chat, he got all grumpy and just cut me off. Now it all adds up - definitely a sneaky broadband scam. Watch out, folks!

On the 15th Feb 2022, I got a call a bit after 8 in the morning. They left me a voicemail, but all you could hear was heavy breathing, no message or anything.

Got a call from someone with an Asian sounding accent just after 8 o'clock. She wanted to check if it was me she was speaking to, then suddenly the call dropped. Now I’m quite wary of picking up the phone. I do have caller ID, though it’s a bit tricky to make out sometimes, so if I can spot the number I usually let the answerphone deal with it.

Same old nonsense - they start with the usual chit-chat like “how are you” and then boom, it’s about TV insurance. They want to know what brand my TV is. Then they ask for my birthday. I said no, and when they pushed for my name and address, I refused again. Definitely a scam. I was just holding out for a moment to say my name was Mickey Mouse! What a complete waste of time!

Turns out, it's probably just a way to gather info to pass on to dodgy companies who’ll try to sell you expensive extended warranties. And if anything actually breaks, good luck getting them to fix it or even answering your calls. Avoid!

dodgy caller! this phone number doesn’t belong to any assigned range, so i’m guessing the person’s faking their caller ID. according to ofcom, numbers beginning with 0238251 aren’t meant to be given out. i honestly don’t get why ofcom or the cops can’t just put a stop to calls from fake numbers straight away! the tech to do this has to be there, just they don’t seem bothered enough to use it.
