Normally, I wait for them to speak first, but this time I said something straight away. At first, there was just silence, then suddenly a voice appeared, like it wouldn’t have come on if they had a proper answer… then cut off. The person talking raced through their spiel like they wanted to make sure I couldn’t catch most of it. They ended with a “we’re calling about an accident you had” line. I asked which accident they were talking about and they said something happened over two years ago. I told them I had no clue and never had any accidents, then they just vanished.
