I picked up the call, expecting it might be someone important, and usually, I prefer to hold off until the other party chimes in. However, this time I let a few words slip, and you could distinctly hear the transition from silence to a human voice. It was as if the line wouldn’t connect unless prompted - quite odd, really, and it seemed destined to cut off without any interaction. They rattled off their spiel at lightning speed, clearly designed to baffle you and leave you grappling to catch much of it. Eventually, they launched into that familiar line about "the accident you had." I was quite taken aback and asked what incident they were referring to. They claimed it was from 2.5 years back, to which I replied I had no clue what they meant since I hadn’t encountered any mishaps. Suddenly, they vanished from the line. It’s pretty clear to me; they belong to that dubious lot of ambulance chasers or accident claim hunters.

I picked up the phone, thinking it might be a legitimate call, although I'm usually cautious and prefer to let the other person speak first. Surprisingly, I started talking straight away this time.
