Got a call claiming to be from o2 or virgin media. They said my sim was going to be cut off in three days and that I’d need a new one sent to me. Said I could ring him if I had any problems. The bloke gave his name as Charlie Victor, number 02034883136, and said his o2 ID was mx1755. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Some bloke said he was from O2 and mentioned they’d be sending me a new SIM to swap out the old one. He even gave me a passcode and asked for my email. Then he said I should ring back on 0203 488 3136. The guy said his name was Charlie Victor and his number was MX1755 or something like that.

Got a call from someone claiming to be O2 saying my SIM was about to expire in a couple of days. But when I asked them who the account was under, they couldn’t give me a clear answer. Also, they seemed pretty annoyed when I mentioned I’d call O2 myself after work to sort it out. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call earlier from 02380971128 claiming to be O2. Complete scam warning! They asked me to click a link they supposedly sent via email... Seriously? I can’t believe this number’s still ringing after all these 6 years. Weird how it’s still going!

I got a call from some fake HMRC folks claiming VAT stuff, but this time it was from 0161 818 7840, which is a Manchester number. The caller was still Clare (Patel) Williams! Such a scammer.

I got a call from some American lady and I totally freaked out at first because I was expecting a package from overseas and the tracking mentioned customs was holding it up. I was about to ring her back but thought I’d better look up the number online first. So glad I did, what a relief!

Got a robocall kinda like what others described. Some woman called Clare Williams from HMRC said there'd be serious consequences if I didn't ring back. Weirdly, she ended the message with "Take care." Yeah, right! We'll be dodging your calls, thanks very much. The number showed up as 02081243542.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC about a tax error from 2014/15. The woman said I needed a lawyer and that there was an arrest warrant out for me. They said I could be sentenced to 5 years in jail. It’s shocking how they think it’s okay to scare people like this - honestly, they must not have any morals at all.

Like others have said, I got a voicemail on Thursday 4th October from someone named "Clare Williams" speaking with an American accent. She said she was from HMRC and accused me of owing money, threatening legal trouble if I or my lawyer didn’t return the call. She finished with "take care" - honestly, how daft do these scammers reckon we are? Still, I can see how folks who aren’t so suspicious might feel stressed by these calls, so I’ve reported it to HMRC as they suggest.

Just got a call today too, some automated lady with a US accent going on about legal action if I don’t respond. It’s crazy how they use these landline numbers and you can’t track them down properly. Wonder how they get away with it!

I nearly got caught out by this scam. Some bloke rang me up claiming HMRC was suing me over tax I hadn’t paid. Just as I reached for my card, the guy got really aggressive. That’s when I stopped and asked who exactly he was. I told him to get lost and that I’d ring HMRC myself. They kept ringing me non-stop after that, which made me suspicious. Eventually, I reported the whole thing to both the police and HMRC.

About an hour back, I finished chatting with them - it was exactly like what everyone’s saying here. I had to put them on hold and ring HMRC myself on a different phone to check, and turns out they’re not actually taking any legal steps against me. Still, my heart’s pounding from the whole thing. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from a woman with an accent, claiming she was from HMRC. When I asked her what HMRC meant, she just ended the call. They’d left a message saying I owed some fines, so I called back. I gave some random name, “John Smith,” and the bloke on the other end chuckled, said that wasn’t my name, then disconnected. Just a heads up, this is definitely a scam trying to nab your personal info. Would be nice if they actually tried a bit harder or at least had a laugh about it!

I got a robo call with a recorded American voice saying it was from HM Revenue & Customs. They said it was an urgent matter and I had to speak to my solicitor before ringing them back on a number they gave. They stressed it was really time sensitive. It’s obviously a scam though, since HMRC wouldn’t sound American or use an automated message like that. Funny enough, the call seemed to be coming from a number based in Southampton.

I usually dont pick up on calls from London or other random area codes, so it went straight to my voicemail. The lady speaking had an American accent like people mentioned before. The message was quite worrying, especially since Im self employed. When I looked up the number she told me to ring back, it turned out to be the same one loads of folks have reported getting calls from.

Avoid this at all costs, it's a total scam. They might ring you again and even manage to show the HMRC number on your phone to trick you into thinking it's genuine. Don't hand over any money or you'll just be robbed. I got in touch with the tax office myself and they told me straight up it's fake.

Absolute scam! They left my wife in tears after that call. I eventually had to get on the phone with this awful bloke who tried scare tactics to con people. Something really needs to be done about this because surely using folks’ personal info like this isn't allowed - what about GDPR? It’s just disgraceful :(

Honestly, this call sounds legit. Loads of folks in the UK are getting hit with HMRC court cases as a kind of Brexit precaution. Weirdly, the calls come from automated American numbers now since all the UK call centres sort of packed up and shifted over to India.

Got a voicemail earlier from some US-based automated message claiming it was HMRC and instructing me to ring back. When I called, an Indian guy picked up and accused me of tax fraud, saying legal steps were being taken against me. The bloke kept pushing even while I was crying over the phone, threatening he'd contacted the local cops about me. What a horrible, heartless person - he should be brought to justice for this.
