Just got off the phone after calling back this number not realising it was a scam. They mentioned stuff about work and said I owed some tax money, about £1398 from back in 2013-2017. The person on the line was really pushy, shouting and trying to pressure me about why I hadn’t paid, even though I’ve never got any letters. They kept saying they tried delivering notices twice and if I don’t reply, there’ll be court action. I rang my accountant straight away and she confirmed it’s a dodgy scam. Proper unpleasant experience.

So I rang them first using a private number, and they just cut me off straight away - bit predictable, right? Then I phoned back and let them have a bit of a mouthful before slamming the phone down. (Yeah, maybe a bit immature, but it was a laugh.) After that, I gave them another ring and spun a long, sad story for about 20 minutes, pleading with them to leave it alone. I even suggested paying them 77p a month as a plan. (Still a bit daft, but honestly, quite entertaining.)
