She inquired whether I was the owner of the phone number she had dialled. When I questioned the necessity of such a call at that ungodly hour, she replied that it was to confirm my phone number. Curious about her motive, I pressed her for more details on why she needed this verification, and without a word, she abruptly disconnected the call! One has to wonder what kind of legitimate reason anyone might have to make a phone call at such an early time; it certainly can raise alarm bells, as one might instinctively think there's been some family crisis.
