According to what I’ve seen on the HMRC website, this seems to pertain to the West Hampshire Magistrates’ Court. Oddly enough, it feels as though this court operates quite independently from those on the Isle of Wight and in Portsmouth, not to forget the family court in Southampton, which I’ve noticed tends to contact people concerning criminal court fines. Interestingly, the fines hotline for both the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth is supposedly situated in Newport, while the fines department for West Hampshire Magistrates has supposedly been relocated to Bristol, along with a new email address. I was under the impression that all the courts in Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Devon, and Somerset shared a single number for fines, which the Southampton court apparently assigns when issuing fines, despite having multiple addresses associated with it. I can't help but wonder which specific address HMRC maintains for this so-called unified department that’s meant to cover Southampton.

Received a rather peculiar phone call at the ungodly hour of 5am today! A chap with a Pakistani accent claimed he was calling from the court. Now, I might be mistaken, but don’t courts usually keep their business to more sociable hours? Quite fishy, if you ask me!
