This morning (21/2/17) I got a call from a lady who sounded Indian or Asian. Apparently, they had tried ringing yesterday too but I wasn’t in. She claimed to be from BT and said there was an issue with my internet. She told me to fix it by pressing 'ctrl+R'. When I asked how long it would take since I needed to get my daughter ready, she said she would call back. Then out of nowhere, she accused me of lying, saying, 'Why are you lying Madam?' and just hung up straight away!

Got a call early at 7.50 then again around half eleven from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT. She said someone was misusing my broadband for illegal stuff and asked me to switch on my PC so she could fix it. I told her there’s no one using my broadband like that, and asked her to take my number off her list. Then she started shouting at me! I just told her to jog on and ended the call.

Got a call from a lady with a strong foreign accent earlier. Claimed to be from BT, saying there was some issue with my computer. I asked her where she was based and she replied Banbury Road, Oxford. I stayed silent after that. Then she said, "are you still there?" and when I didn’t answer, she went on with "are you still there - silly woman" before hanging up. BT? Nah, not buying it, they can be pesty but this felt totally off.

This morning at about 8 o'clock I got a call from this number with a message saying 'the other person has cleared' left on my answerphone more than once. I picked up just to be told by a woman with a foreign accent that she was from BT OpenReach and there was something wrong with my computer. I said I was busy and ended the call quickly. Since then, I’ve had at least one more call with the same message. I’ve blocked the number now.

The very first time I picked up, I mentioned I worked for BT, but before I could say more, the lady on the line (sounded Indian) just hung up on me. When I called her out on it, she quickly lost interest and actually got annoyed that I was wasting her time before hanging up. Ridiculous! A woman with an Indian accent has phoned me twice within a fortnight, claiming to be from BT Openreach and saying someone next door is using my broadband. She’s really pushy about it. The second call, I asked her for her ID to check with BT Openreach myself. She gave the name Ali Jones, even though she started the call with a different name, then just cut the line off. I used 1471 to find out that was the number she called from.

Today, 9th Feb, I got a call at 9:38 am from this number. A lady speaking with an Indian accent claimed to be from BT Openreach. She said a neighbour was accessing our internet which might damage our computer's hard drive. She insisted it was a business line. Although it sounded dodgy, I hesitated a bit because my business computer's hard drive recently died and I saw a BT Openreach van nearby yesterday. I told her we're on the TPS list and that I’d be reporting her number. She quickly apologised and said she must've dialled the wrong number. I want to report this but I’m a bit confused since TPS doesn’t handle scam calls, and since I didn’t fall for it, I’m not sure if I should report it as a fraud.

This lady claimed to be from BT Open Reach, calling herself Ali Jones. She told me hackers had taken control of my router and could access every device linked to it. When I asked if I could ring her back using an official BT number, she agreed but said I’d need to ask for the server department. Apparently, the number I’d called her on wouldn’t connect me direct. I also asked where the router was located, but she couldn’t give a clear answer, only that the main one was in Oxford, which is miles away from me here in Yorkshire. She said her office was at 256 Banbury Road, Oxford. The part that set alarm bells ringing was how she kept insisting I had to get on my computer and make some changes. I’d say it’s definitely a scam.

What a day it’s been on this fine Wednesday-I've already had three so-called “specially trained” sales folks knocking at my door in just a couple of hours! To top it off, I was subjected to the infamous hard sell; you know the type.
