9 yearsI keep receiving incessant calls from an Asian individual, pestering me every couple of minutes about an alleged issue with my BT internet connection. They claim that someone in the States is misusing my internet address to make purchases. They've urged me to access my computer and follow their bizarre instructions to reveal some sort of message. I've stopped picking up, but their tenacity is remarkable! It’s a relief to realise these calls are mere scams, which allows me to completely disregard their nonsensical offers to 'assist' me in resolving this 'problem' they’re trying to foist upon me.States9 yearsGot a call saying my internet would be disconnected at midday because of suspicious activity, supposedly from BT. I asked them who exactly they were trying to reach. They wanted me to verify my address, but I told them they should already have it to make sure! Then they rattled off some completely different address. I just laughed and said there's no way you're BT. After that, they just ended the call. Definitely a scam.BT9 yearsThe call got handed over to me by my partner, so I made the caller hang on for about 5 minutes. Then I said I needed to restart my computer, apologising for it running so sluggishly. After some more wait time, I claimed it had frozen. Another reboot followed, with more waiting involved. The guy kept trying to guide me through fixing the issues, but I was taking my time. Then it hit me - I’m with Virgin - and just like that, the line cut off. :)Virgin9 yearsThis scam has been going on forever; nothing new about it at all.9 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be BT saying my internet was going to be disconnected today due to some issues. They couldn’t give me any proper details or confirm who they were, which was suspicious. Plus, I’m not even a BT customer, so definitely a scam.BT9 yearsLike the others said, this guy said he was from BT. I kept them chatting for about 3 minutes before I just lost interest!BT9 yearsI just got a ring from this number, like what others said before. Glad I checked, 'cause it seems like a scam to me. Cheers for helping me figure it out!9 yearsThese guys ring me almost everyday. It's like they won't stop calling no matter what. Super annoying!9 yearsI got a call from some bloke claiming he was from the BBC, saying my computer was messed up and he could sort it out if I just turned it on. I told him I wasn’t having any problems and asked if he could maybe find his mum or dad instead, as I’d rather chat to them. He didn’t take that well at all and told me to get lost in the rudest way possible. Proper weird and rude call that was.BBC9 yearsGot a call earlier today from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from BT about my internet, but I actually have Sky. Definitely a scam - do they really believe everyone falls for this?BTSky9 yearsI got a ring earlier today and there was loads of noise in the background, sounded like a call centre or something. Nobody said a word though, the call just dropped straight away. Seeing what folks have said here before, I’m pretty sure it’s another one of those dodgy scams from the usual crooks. Blocked the number straight away.9 yearsI received a call from this number earlier, and the person on the line claimed to be from BT. They were asking to speak with the individual responsible for managing the bill. Quite peculiar, wouldn't you say?BT9 yearsI received a call from someone claiming to be from BT. However, when I reached out to BT directly, they informed me that this number isn’t associated with them at all and advised against sharing any personal information. Just a heads-up to everyone!BT9 yearsHad a couple of calls today supposedly from BT, but I just knew they weren't. When I called them out on it, they started swearing at me and ended up hanging up. Proper rude!BT9 yearsI've received a number of calls purporting to be from BT or Virgin Media as well. It seems that these deceitful attempts are becoming the go-to tactic for scammers, which is rather worrying... It's crucial that we all do our bit to inform others about the dangers lurking out there!BTVirgin Media9 yearsGot a call from these people a moment ago. The bloke on the phone said he was Brian Wilson, but he sounded Asian. I told him I loved the tunes he did with the Beach Boys, and you should’ve heard how baffled he was!Brian WilsonBeach Boys9 yearsMy phone shows the incoming number, and if it's unfamiliar, I simply let it ring. It's a right bother, though, especially when I'm in the midst of something and find myself having to interrupt to pick up.9 yearsI keep receiving incessant calls from individuals claiming to represent BT, insisting there's an issue with my computer. It's rather tiresome, especially considering my husband's poor health. I've tried informing these callers that we're fully aware of their scam tactics and advised them to cease bothering us, yet they persist. They often ring at unsociable hours, and we regularly find ourselves dealing with two or three calls daily. I'm utterly exasperated with this situation.BT9 yearsGot two calls earlier on today from an international number, wasn’t having it, so I just blocked it straight away.International9 yearsWe keep getting a barrage of calls from individuals with Asian accents claiming to be from BT, insisting there's an issue with our computer. It’s especially frustrating as my husband is unwell, and these nuisances just won’t leave us alone. I’ve told them plainly that we recognise them as scammers and urged them not to bother us, but they seem to thrive on our annoyance and persist, even calling as early as dawn. We’re receiving two to three of these tedious calls daily - it’s incredibly exasperating.BT9 yearsGot a call from a woman speaking with an Indian accent saying she was from BT. I ended up shouting at her and just cut off the call. Honestly, I reckon if you blow a whistle loudly into the phone it might freak them out. I don’t get why these scammers aren’t getting nabbed, or why we don’t hear about them on the radio, TV, or even from BT itself. Really glad I stumbled across this site, it’s helpful.BT9 yearsThis number rang me three times within about a minute, all about BT, and the caller was an Asian man. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, a different person answered, also with an Asian accent. I told him to remove us from their call list, but he got really rude and started shouting stuff like “f##k off” at us multiple times. Then, he had the nerve to call me an English B#####d, which is funny because I'm actually Scottish! If we said anything like that about someone else’s background, we’d probably be accused of racism. By the way, we don’t even use BT.BT9 yearsI got a call from a guy who said his name was Steven and claimed he worked for BT. He had an Asian accent and told me there was an issue with my internet. He said he was calling from 81 Newgate Street EC1 7AJ. When I asked to talk to a manager, another person with a similar accent came on and denied being in India, sticking to the same story. After a bit, I was back on the line with Steven who kept insisting I turn on my computer so he could sort out the problem. In the end, he just gave up and hung up on me.StevenBTNewgate StreetEC1 7AJIndia9 yearsI've been getting calls from someone claiming to be the 'BT department,' but it's obviously a scam. After spending two decades in IT, I can tell when someone's talking nonsense. This bloke with an Indian accent was just rattling off rubbish. Best thing is to hang up straight away - don't listen or do what they want, it's just not worth the risk!BT9 yearsBeen getting calls from this number literally every single day - what a treat. Once again they claim to be BT saying there’s a problem with my broadband. Today, I cheerfully told the nice bloke from India, “this is a scam, back off, this is a scam, back off.” He quickly responded, “Miss, this isn’t a scam.” My comeback? “This is a scam, go away,” (and yes, I sang it, just for fun). He ended the call right after.BTMadam9 yearsReceived a call from a bloke claiming to be Steven, purportedly from BT, and he had an Asian accent. He told me there was an issue with my internet connectivity and mentioned he was calling from 81 Newgate Street EC1 7AJ. When I requested to speak to a supervisor, another chap with a similar accent claimed they weren’t based in India and stuck to his tale. But soon enough, he seemed to lose his resolve and I was back with Steven, who kept urging me to switch on my computer so he could 'resolve' the supposed issue. In the end, he just threw in the towel, and before I knew it, the line went silent.StevenBTNewgate Street EC1 7AJIndia9 yearsGot a call today from someone claiming a hacker was using our BT broadband. I made sure I heard right when he said "BT" - that's when it hit me this bloke was fake, we don't even have BT internet. I decided to give him a piece of my mind, told him "Just do one and stop bothering us. You're a con artist and can jog on!" Oddly, he hasn't tried ringing again since.BT9 yearsGot a call claiming to be from BT with a really thick Indian accent. They kept going on about my IP address and said something terrible was about to happen to my computer. Total load of rubbish, just a typical scam.BT9 yearsJust got a ring from 02340986756. They claimed they were from my heating firm and said I had to pay to replace the boiler. Bit suspicious if you ask me.9 yearsEvery time I answer a call from a number beginning with "0234," all I get is that typical call centre background noise before I hang up. From what I understand, the proper codes for Southampton and Portsmouth start with "023," but then the next digit should be either "8" for Southampton and nearby areas or "9" for Portsmouth and the surrounding region. So a number with "0234" doesn’t really fit - it seems like a fake. That’s why I reckon any call coming from a number starting with "0234" is likely a scam.SouthamptonPortsmouth9 yearsI've been getting loads of calls from people with thick Indian accents, mostly blokes, but once a woman too. They always say they're from BT. The last one even gave his name as "Mark Wilson from BT services," which is a laugh since I don't have any BT service whatsoever! These calls keep coming, multiple times each day, and nothing seems to stop them - not being nice or even getting quite harsh. Honestly, I don't think they properly get English at all. It's so frustrating.BTMark Wilson9 yearsI received a call from a number that purported to be from BT's technical support. They claimed my server was riddled with errors and that hackers might be trying to access my data. They offered to guide me on how to sort it out, but first wanted me to power up my computer. I didn't fall for it and pushed back a bit, which prompted a supervisor to chime in, trying to convince me further. I reiterated that I had been warned this was a con, and just like that, they abruptly ended the call. Quite the dodgy business, if you ask me!BT9 yearsThis number’s been ringing me like crazy - about 4 times in just a couple days. Luckily, my caller ID shows my own town name, like “St Albans” or something, so I just pick up saying it’s St Albans Dog Shelter, and they usually drop the call right away. Still, they don’t seem to get the hint and keep on dialing. Quite annoying!St AlbansSt Albans Dogs Home9 yearsThis lot said they’re from BT tech support, warning that my internet might drop out soon. Total con if you ask me. I finally looked up the number after a bunch of calls over a few years and it turned out to be some random high street store - defo not BT! My internet’s always been fine, so yeah, don’t fall for it.BT9 yearsGot a call from these muppets claiming they wanted to send me a file to sort out hackers who’d supposedly got into my laptop. As if I’d just let some random send me something dodgy, absolute plonkers. What a load of rubbish!9 yearsSo I got a couple of calls recently from some lads claiming to be from BT Internet - they were called "John" and "Robert". They were trying to convince me to let them run some sort of program on my PC so they could basically get full access. I remember these scams used to say they were from Microsoft. Lucky I’m on Linux, eh? No way they’re getting in! Hehe!JohnRobertMicrosoft9 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be from BT, sounded exactly like a call centre. He asked to access my computer, which I instantly found dodgy. Told him to sort himself out with a decent job and joked that maybe his mum and dad weren’t even married.BT9 yearsThey really won't give up, just got another call from them again.9 yearsThe line was really loud and busy like a call centre, so couldn’t make out much. I caught him saying something about being with "BT" and my computer, but that was it. When I said I couldn’t hear properly, he just ended the call on me.BT9 yearsJust got a call from these lot, so watch out! A mate of mine fell for their trick last week - they somehow got into her PC and wiped out her bank account. Today, they rang me pretending to be from BT, saying my internet would be cut off because my IP was nicked and being used overseas. I told the bloke I wasn't buying it and that he should send me a letter or something. He just hung up on me!BT9 yearsGot a call from this number about six times today. The line was really crackly and hard to hear. Some guy with an Indian accent was on the other end. I told him I’m not interested but then he just hung up. Surprise surprise, they rang me right back less than two minutes later.9 yearsGot a call from some muppets claiming they’d send a folder to my laptop to “fix” hackers that supposedly got into my files. Like I’m just gonna let them mess about on my computer! Proper daft, honestly, what a joke.9 yearsThey just called me and I kept saying I couldn’t hear what they were saying. After they started yelling to speak louder, they ended up hanging up on me.9 yearsOver the last few days, I've noticed they've been switching up the numbers they call from. I reckon they’re trying to hack into our computers or something. Occasionally, there’s no reply, but they keep ringing back. Can’t someone do something to put an end to these annoying ####?9 yearsI decided not to pick up when I saw "INTERNATIONAL" flash up on my caller ID. It appears I'm getting quite a few similar calls, yet most of them show up without any actual phone number when I investigate further.9 yearsThis number has rang me for the third time now. When I answered, I asked the person what my name was, and he claimed I was a woman. I told him that if he really worked for BT, he’d know my name, but then he just gave some random name instead. I called him out on not being from BT and he ended the call straight away. On a previous call, he tried convincing us to hook up to the internet - no chance. Proper dodgy scam, I reckon.BT9 yearsKeep getting calls from this number and today the bloke actually swore at me, called me a 'Mother F___ER'. Can't tell if he's Indian or Chinese, but his English is awful. He was trying to get access to our computer, but we're not having any of it. Now he's proper annoyed. It's so frustrating because this is my work phone!9 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be BT saying there was an issue with my email security. As soon as I said they sounded like scammers, they started threatening to disconnect my email. They kept ringing me until I had to block the number.BT9 yearsThis is already the third day running I've had calls from this number. Today I actually chatted with the guy a bit, asked how he was doing, about his family, then we had a laugh mentioning the weather here and there. At one point I told him I don’t have internet at home (which wasn’t true) just a dongle, and he had no clue what that even was! Honestly, these calls are so irritating by the end of it all.9 yearsJust got a call from some bloke who said his name was Alex, claiming to be from BT. He said there was some issue with my internet and he needed to fix it. Honestly, I was tempted to give him a piece of my mind, but I kept it civil and told him to stick his phone where the sun don’t shine.AlexBT9 yearsGot a call earlier claiming my IP address was active in the middle of the night. I asked for the caller’s name and contact to verify, and he said he was Steve Johnston with employee ID 0236bt. Honestly, that name didn’t sit right with me at all - felt like a total scam. Told them no way was I pressing any buttons, definitely a dodgy call!Steve Johnston9 yearssome supposed bt caller left me totally confused. defo not bt though.BT9 yearsI got two calls in like a couple of hours, and both times there was nothing said. Felt like those automatic calls to me, so I’m guessing it’s some kind of spam or annoying bot thing. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.9 yearsso this bloke rings me up sayin “hello ma’am, I’m calling regardin your bt service” but he had this really strong accent, which made it hard to understand. what creeped me out most was when he told me his name - it was the same as my son’s! i even asked him a few times to be sure and he kept sayin yes. then i asked him for his actual name and suddenly he started rambling in some gibberish that sounded like chinese but i doubt it really was. before i could say anything else, he just hung up. honestly, can’t stand these stupid calls anymore!9 yearsGot a call today from 02340986756, said it was from BT and on the TPS list. I didn’t pick up the first time, then they rang again a bit later. Honestly, it feels like a scam to me!TPS BT9 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be from BT support about my IP address.
