They rang me twice, I didn't pick up the first time but did the second. It was a company saying they were government-approved and linked with the Telephone Preference Service. They said they were checking so we wouldn’t get marketing calls anymore. But then, when they tried to get bank details to confirm we were signed up, I asked why they needed that info and they just ended the call. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

I’ve got BT Call Guardian on my phone and noticed this number tried calling me 4 times over the past couple of days. Each time, the system cut them off cause they weren’t playing by the rules. Going to chuck this one on the block list now so I don’t get disturbed by it again - cheers BT for that!

This number called me, and after that awkward silence at the start, a woman with a very English accent just said “hello”. She kept repeating herself a few times, then suddenly hung up. Normally I put the phone by the loud radio to drown them out! Absolutely fed up with these types targeting people who are easy to scam.

This appears to be a fraudulent scheme. I've previously signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, so I shouldn't be receiving these calls.

I did the same and bought a cheap referee whistle. Weirdly, they really don’t like that annoying noise blasted right in their ears.

Called my mum for like 10 minutes earlier and just kept getting her surname wrong. There were two of them on the line, and even some "supervisor" joined in. Didn’t manage to get any info from her - fair play to her.

Theyve called me 3 times now, I already told the woman its a scam. Honestly thinking about getting one of those loud shrill horns to scare em off. Bloody thieves!

A guy with an Asian accent rang me this morning at about 8:15 from 02336 852104, but the line was super noisy. He knew my name and after repeating himself a few times, he finally got through about his call blocking service and how great it is. I just told him I'd be happy if he just removed me from his list and stopped calling me altogether. After that, he ended the call - no swearing needed.

This number's been ringing me loads, but I never pick up. Did a quick search and it’s linked to an Indian call centre. Seems pretty clear they’re trying to scam people into handing over money for some dodgy service that probably doesn’t exist. Definitely don’t give them your bank info or pay up. You’ve been warned!

Got a call from this number today at 8.20am on 24/11 and also twice yesterday. I didn't pick up as I've got caller ID and the code looked off, no legit area code. Pretty sure it's just some scam. Proper irritating!

Got a call this morning at 8:06 from 02336852104, 23/11/16, straight to voicemail with no message left. Then they rang again at 1:40, a woman with an accent asked for Mr. (my name). I just told her to bugger off and hung up!

I dunno why but there’s something oddly satisfying about finally speaking to a real person, just to have a moan at them before they cut me off. Just yesterday I got a silent call from this exact number, and I’ve had the same sort of spiel from other “nuisance-call prevention” firms too. It’s so frustrating that nothing really works to stop these scammers right at the root. Same story every day, another scammer on the line.

What a right laugh! I received a call promising me a more foolproof way to dodge those pesky cold calls, even though I'm already registered with the Telephone Preference Service. And get this, it wasn't even a sales pitch! Can you believe it? The chap on the other end knew my last name and was aware that I'm on TPS - makes you think if they've got a hacker on their team, doesn't it? Mind you, I kept my wits about me and didn’t share a thing. After a while, I got a bit fed up and just blocked the number!

He claimed to ring about nuisance calls, bit ironic if you ask me. Mentioned he was based in Central London. Ended the call when I asked which tube stop was closest to him.

Got a ring during my lunch break from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from some Call Blocking Team. He said he knew I was getting loads of annoying calls and his company could sort it out. I’d already been warned about these types by the council, so I just played along. He mentioned they could block foreign calls, something the TPS can’t do. I kept asking how much it would cost and after a while he admitted it was a one-off fee, at least £29. I told him I was onto their scam straight away, but of course he denied it loudly. In the end, I just ended the call.

I picked up and said hello a few times, then some robotic voice just said 'goodbye' and hung up.

Rang me earlier today around half ten, but there was nothing but quiet on the line. I must admit, I can’t help but feel a tad envious that others had the chance to engage in some banter or even let off a bit of steam.

I picked up the phone for this number, but all I got was silence on the other end, so I ended the call. It really infuriates me that we continue to receive these calls despite the fact that we've registered with the Telephone Preference Service. It’s quite frustrating, to say the least!

This one’s a new experience for me. Got a call today from this number. When I picked up, there was a brief silence then loads of background noise, which made me suspect it was a call centre scam. The bloke on the line had quite a strong accent, probably Indian. I couldn’t make out exactly which company he said he was calling from, but he mentioned something about TPS and a government department. He claimed I’d been getting loads of nuisance calls on my line. I politely thanked him for the heads up but told him the only nuisance caller I had was him! That was the end of it.

This bloke with an Indian accent rang me up claiming he'd put a stop to all my irritating spam calls. I told him, "I'm quite the fibber myself, but go ahead with your tale, I'm all ears." Then he just ended the call?

Just like everyone else's remarks, this really seems like some kind of scam.

Got a call on Saturday morning while I was at work and they just dropped the call as soon as I picked up.

Some bloke called saying my number was getting loads of nuisance calls. I told him to tell his boss to ring 0300 1232040, ActionFraud, cos they wanna chat with his firm!

I keep receiving calls that are utterly silent, save for the solitary utterance of “goodbye” when the conversation wraps up. As someone with a disability, it’s quite challenging for me to reach the phone, and I’m really fed up with these disturbances. I’d rather not be harassed in such a manner.

Got a call from a man with an Asian accent who claimed to be from CPS. I didn’t hang about and just cut him off quickly. If this is true and like others mention, it’s not even a real Southampton number but some international one pretending to be from the UK, doesn’t that just highlight a huge flaw in the TPS system?

There was a ton of noise in the background, then this guy with a thick Asian accent said he was Peter calling from somewhere I couldn’t make out. I asked him to repeat himself, but it was just more gibberish. I tried again, still nothing clear. Then he said “Central London” but I was like, no, what company are you with? Still couldn’t understand him. Eventually he said he wanted to help with nuisance calls or something, so I told him I handle that fine on my own and hung up.

Got a call from an Asian guy named David claiming he was from some call blocking team. He said he was aware I was getting loads of annoying calls but kept going on about how he could sort it out. Eventually I just hung up. This number kept showing up in my missed calls quite a bit.

Got a call from the same number, an Indian lady claiming to be Scarlet Pearse, saying she was from the government and TPS. She tried giving me a callback number 0803 0507 986, but I obviously didn’t bother calling back.

Got three calls from this number today, asking if i've had any unwanted calls! Decided to block it now.

Some bloke said he was from CPS and ringing for the TPS, saying I’d been getting loads of spam calls! Then he told me he was calling from London, but the number was from down South somewhere! Didn’t feel right at all.

It came up on my Caller ID as an overseas number - which I usually just ignore! My answer machine picked up the incoming number as 02336 852104, and I’m fairly certain it’s a scam, pretending to help with nuisance calls - what a load of rubbish! Funny how the TPS can’t seem to block this one.

Didn't pick up as I didn't recognise the number, and there wasnt any message left on my voicemail. I'm signed up with TPS but still get loads of scam calls every day, so I just ignore calls now unless I can see who it is.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent who had trouble with his English. Said he was from some Government-backed thing called the Call Prevention Service. I told him he ought to know he shouldn’t be ringing me since I’m on the official TPS list. We went back and forth on this a few times before I just hung up. Proper pain in the neck!

Got a call around 1pm today but couldn’t pick up because the phone showed BT CALL GUARDIAN 8500 and they didn’t say who they were. So phone didn’t ring properly and no voicemail left.

At the start of the call there was a long pause. When I asked who was speaking, some bloke with a rude, Asian-sounding voice said it was the Call Prevention Service. I told him it sounded like I was getting a call I wanted to block, and then he started swearing at me loads - proper nasty, rude words - before just hanging up. Who even are these muppets?

I received a call today at 1 o'clock, but unfortunately, I couldn't answer because the BT CALL GUARDIAN 8500 didn't identify the caller. As a result, my phone remained silent, and they weren’t able to leave a message. It's a bit frustrating, really!

I thought, oh, like BT? He said yes. I was like, seriously, you're calling from BT, my provider? Then out of nowhere he called me a b**** and just hung up. The number was 02336852104.

Got a call from an Asian woman saying she was getting these annoying calls too. Honestly, she’s one of them! Couldn’t catch who she claimed to be calling for, they chatter so fast to throw you off. TPS can’t do much since they’re based outside the UK and EU. Fingers crossed some kind of shake-up hits their lot soon, haha!

I picked up and said hello. Then an automated voice just said goodbye and hung up on me. Total waste of time.

Kept ringing this number a few times but everytime I pick up, no one says anything. Honestly, these scammers and people just wasting our time should be dealt with properly and stopped for good.

Seriously, the authorities should really crack down on these annoying people wasting everyone’s time.

Got a really cheeky bloke on the phone, sounded like he had an Asian accent, claiming he was from some "Call Prevention Service." When I asked if he realised the irony of that, he got all hissy about why he’d bother spending cash on it. Ended up telling him to jog on.

I picked up and said hi. This robotic voice just replied with Goodbye and hung up on me.

Calls where nobody speaks at all.
