9 yearsToday we got a call on our business line from someone saying they were with British Gas, mentioning a meter issue. But when I questioned them, they quickly switched to claiming they were from Eon, which is actually our current provider. They even had the wrong address on file. I asked them to provide a proper contact number to verify, but they couldn’t give one. When I told them I suspected it was a scam, they got quite hostile. I then rang Eon myself, and they confirmed it sounded like a phishing attempt aiming to hijack our account.British GasE. ON9 yearsToday we got a call on our business number from 01985 67854 or something close, saying they were from British Gas. They wanted to check our meter readings because apparently their system was down. We told them to ring back later, then phoned British Gas ourselves. They said they’re actually trying to collect info to move customers to a different energy provider. Felt a bit odd, to be honest.British Gas9 yearsGot a call earlier today from someone saying they were with Eon, which used to be our supplier. Makes me wonder, do they actually know who we get our energy from? Or maybe they've got some kind of access to the UK electricity system's main portal? The bloke on the phone, sounded foreign, kept grilling me with loads of questions. As soon as I asked him to email me instead, he just ended the call. I've blocked that number now.E. ON9 yearsGot a call on our work number from someone with a foreign accent, asking for our accounts payable department and saying they were from Opus Energy, which is who supplies our energy. I told them that Opus Energy doesn’t provide our electricity, and they just hung up immediately. Watch out - definitely sounds like a scam!Opus Energy9 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were with E.ON trying to check my meter number. Was definitely a scam, so I told them to jog on straight away. Turns out these guys go on the E.ON website and sign up their email to get notifications about renewals, then ring you up trying to switch your energy supplier or worse. Best to keep your mouth shut, say you need to double-check your paperwork, and just leave them hanging for ages.Eon9 yearsthis number has rung me a few times claiming to be british gas, which is who we get our energy from, asking to check our meter number and readings. the caller usually speaks with an accent from the indian sub continent. i phoned british gas customer support and they told me these calls are actually attempts to get your details so they can switch you to a different supplier. watch out for these!British Gas9 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be from our electric provider, asking for our meter number. When we refused, he started getting quite rude. We told him to send a proper letter instead. He seemed to know quite a bit about the company but couldn’t provide all our info, so it felt like he was trying to scam us and take control of our electricity account.9 yearsI got a call from someone saying they were from SSE, gave me a supply number and said they needed to send an engineer to look at our electricity meter. They were really insistent and kept pushing, so I ended up just hanging up. Later when I checked with SSE directly, it turned out to be a scam! The supply number they gave was just a common one that anyone could find. Seems like they were trying to trick someone into letting them into their home. Be careful with calls like this!9 yearsGot a call on our company's phone from someone claiming to be from E-on, asking to talk to our accounts team. The caller spoke with a foreign accent and sounded quite calm, nothing like the usual aggressive scammers. I told him we don’t actually have any accounts with E-on, and then he just ended the call. I've had calls like this before from people saying they’re with E-on, but after checking with E-on themselves, they confirmed they haven’t hired anyone to ring us.E.
