Today was the first time in about 3 years I actually got a call on my home phone, which I only recently de-private about a couple of weeks ago!

I called them back, turned out it was Pinergy. When I asked why they cut off as soon as I picked up, the bloke said it’s all done by an auto dialler. I told him to take me off their list because if they want me as a customer, a real person should give me a ring. He got a bit rude and snapped, “have a nice day, have a lovely weekend,” then just hung up on me. So yeah, Pinergy, you’re just another annoying nuisance caller.

This number is back bothering me again. Over the last few days, I've gotten quite a few calls from them. I was away for a couple of weeks and saw two missed calls on my home phone. When I called back, I think the bloke mentioned something like pinergy? Since then they keep phoning but hang up as soon as I pick up. I just saw that people have been talking about this on here since 2015, so is it happening again after all this time?

The call came from K-Energy (kenergy.ie).

They promise:
- Cheaper energy rates compared to your existing provider (mine's SSE Airtricity).
- A small GPS-like gadget with a screen to monitor your whole home’s electricity usage. It’s mounted on the wall but can be unplugged and used to check consumption by each appliance like kettles, ovens, heaters, etc.
- Optionally, they offer LED bulbs for 1.2 cents each per day.

The caller was polite and spoke well, but the deal sounded a bit too good to be true and they were keen to have me sign up straight away.

Checking their website, their contact number was just a mobile, which seemed dodgy.

Also, their listed address is just a normal residential house, which doesn’t add up for a company claiming to be an energy supplier - you'd expect a much bigger operation involving substantial investment.
