I've been getting these texts about some supposed fines I haven't paid, but I honestly have no clue what they're about. When I try to ring the number back, it's just an automated message and no real person picks up. The number's showing as a CPT code, but I'm actually based in Jhb. Seems a bit dodgy to me.

I got that text message too. When I called the number, they just asked for my ID details and said someone would contact me later. Why is nothing being done to stop these scammers? This con has been around quite a while, and plenty of people have fallen victim to it. I remember a couple of years back on Radio 702, they interviewed some cops who said they were looking into it. But seriously, how long is it going to take? How do these fraudsters even get hold of our ID and phone numbers? Makes you wonder if some officials might be involved somehow.

Got a text today from an unknown number saying something about 'Unpaid traffic fines for ID ending ****. If you don’t sort this soon, legal action will be taken. Check out www.paymyfines.co.za or ring 0210015126.' Felt a bit dodgy since I’m sure I’ve got no fines, plus the wording didn’t sound quite right. Glad I stumbled upon this site before doing anything!

I've gotten a couple of calls from different numbers like this one. According to RTIA's site, they've been warning about this scam since 21st September 2017. Honestly, don't get caught by these nasty scammers!

This morning, I got a text like that and decided to call the number back. A woman answered and straight away asked for my ID and phone number, which I didn’t give her. I told her she’s got no legal right under the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977 to ask for that info or demand payment without giving me the chance to appear in a lower court for any charges under the Road Traffic Act. Apparently, they have to serve me a summons in person first, not just send these post notices. The letters we get are just warnings before summons, so while you can pay them, you can also choose to be summoned and appear in court. It feels like they’re abusing our rights by pushing ID details online and everywhere. I’m planning to get a court order against this. When I called back, she suddenly claimed their system was offline! Feels like a dodgy money-making scheme if you ask me!

Hey, just got a message saying something about unpaid traffic fines linked to my ID at http://finestatement.co.za/FL.aspx?180144207368799. It warned that if I don’t respond, it might get passed on to some ITC-BA group that handles collections. They gave a number 0210015126 and a website www.p. Does anyone know if this is for real or some kind of scam?

Just got a text saying something about a WARRANT OF ARREST... I rang the number back and ended up giving them my ID and phone number. Honestly, I’m really freaked out now. No idea what they might do with my ID info.

Got a text message earlier today. I pasted the message into WhatsApp and told all my mates it’s a scam. These scammers actually tried pulling this on me earlier this year but I saw through it back then. The ID number they gave is totally off, plus I haven’t owned a car in my name since 2008.

Being away from my home in South Africa right now, I got a msg from 02100115126 claiming I’m a repeat traffic offender, which really freaked me out. Luckily, I decided to look up the number online and found this site, which helped me figure out it wasn’t legit. So glad I checked before panicking!

Got a text saying there’s unpaid traffic fines and that they’d take legal steps if I didn’t click on the link or call them. The message even had the last four digits of my ID. But I’m certain I don’t owe anything because I just renewed my driving licence and there was nothing showing up on their side. Pretty sure it’s a scam.

Got a text just now, so I rang the number. Had to hold on ages in the queue, and when it was finally my turn, I got a voicemail telling me to leave my ID and they'd ring me back.

From what I've looked into, it definitely looks like a scam!

Absolute con artists! They say they’re chasing unpaid traffic penalties but it’s just a trick! Make sure you report this number and their texts to the cops.
