Hello, I received a phone call from the number 0208 976 4857 earlier today. A woman rang up trying to get me to renew the warranty on my washing machine. However, as soon as I asked her what brand my machine was, she cut the call straight away. It seemed a bit suspicious to me, so I’m hoping you can have a look into this matter? Thanks very much and happy holidays, Meirion Howells [email protected]

I picked up but no one was on the line, then this robotic voice told me there was no one available to take the call... I didn’t dial that number, they rang me!

I got a call from a woman named Alissa, asking about a washing machine drum. When I asked her a few questions, she suddenly went quiet. It was a bit weird.

Got a call someone asking for my late husband. Told them he’s passed away, then the bloke starts asking about some washing machine warranty? Bit weird as I’ve had the machine for ages and never had any kind of warranty. Not sure why they’d ring me up now. Feels like a proper scam to me, watch out!

15 December 2020, around 3:15 pm I got a call from a woman who wanted to speak to my husband. She told me the warranty on my washing machine was no longer valid. When I questioned her, she knew my husband's full name and our address, probably from some telecom directory. I told her that I actually bought the washing machine, so it’s unlikely he’d have arranged any warranty without telling me. But she kept insisting the cover had lapsed. Then I asked how much this supposed warranty cost, and she said £8.90 each month. I requested she send cancellation details to my husband, she agreed and then just ended the call.
