Hello there, I recently received a call from the number 0208 976 4857, and it was a woman trying to persuade me to extend the warranty on my washing machine. I picked up the phone, but it was oddly silent on the other end. Shortly after, an automated voice chimed in, informing me that no one was available to take my call. How baffling, as I hadn't even made the call in the first place-they had rung me!

Received a rather peculiar phone call today from someone inquiring about my late husband. When I informed them he had passed away, the chap promptly switched topics and started probing about my washing machine and its warranty. Quite baffling, if I’m honest, considering I’ve owned that machine for ages without ever getting a warranty on it. Clearly, this is a scam-stay alert, folks!

02089764857 15th December 2020, 15:15 A rather insistent lady rang, asking for my husband by name, claiming that the warranty on our washing machine had lapsed. When I probed a little, she promptly provided the right name and address-likely sourced from BT. I mentioned that since I had purchased the washing machine myself, it was highly improbable that my husband would have taken out cover for it without my knowledge. Nevertheless, she continued to assert that the cover was no longer valid. When I inquired about the supposed monthly fee for this nonexistent cover, she quoted £8.90. I then requested for the cancellation documents to be sent to my husband, which she agreed to before abruptly ending the call.
