got a call today, they asked how many folks were home right now and then wanted to know who was the oldest celebrating a birthday. that happened to be my husband, but he was too tied up to chat about the EU or whatever survey they were pushing. they didn’t want to talk to me so i just told em to leave me alone.

I have no clue why this number would call me - didn’t even pick up. Don’t see any reason why they’d have my contact details anyway.

I’m employed by a firm named Kantar Public, which is also recognised under TNS and Millward Brown. It’s a bona fide call centre dedicated to market research. Just so you know, the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and ex-directory listings don't pertain to market research calls, which means we're allowed to make these calls legally. The numbers we contact are generated randomly by a computer system, so there's no link to any directory. If you bother to investigate the company, you’ll find that it's quite reputable, and well-regarded in the research sector.

Got a ring from a call centre, the person on the line was really nice and polite. They asked if I could spare a moment to answer some questions for a media survey. Quite a friendly chat, actually!

I received a call that was oddly silent. It's quite puzzling considering I'm signed up with the Telephone Preference Service and also keep my number private. I never share my landline with anyone! Other sources suggest these people might be dodgy; I can’t help but wonder how they even got hold of my details in the first place.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, insisting that I had overpaid on my taxes. When I inquired about the process for reclaiming that money, the person on the other end couldn't provide me with any information, merely stating that it was a matter for another department. Quite frustrating, really!

When asked if I was interested in participating in a survey about the media and television, my immediate response was a resounding NO!
