Upon searching the number, it appears to be linked to 'Mem's Cafe'. I decided to ring back, and a bloke answered, but his attitude was utterly dismissive. Although he confirmed the connection, he evidently didn't care to investigate who at his cafe was engaging in this dodgy behaviour. Plus, he spoke with the same accent, which makes me suspect he might be part of the con himself, fully aware of the deceitful game. Absolute numpties! Interestingly, the number that tried to contact me was just one digit off. Based on other people's experiences, it looks like we’re all dealing with the same set of fraudsters.
