I've received a fair few calls this week from various numbers in London, all starting with the 0208954 code. Given that I don't have any acquaintances in London and no one has bothered to leave a message, I can only surmise that these must be nuisance calls trying their luck.

It seems like there’s someone out there masquerading as Carphone Warehouse. Best to steer clear of that!

I've been getting calls from this number non stop and every time I pick up, the line just goes dead 😠

I've been inundated with calls from individuals purporting to represent Carphone Warehouse and Currys, offering me a shiny new iPhone 13 at a price that’s supposedly less than my current contract. They promise unlimited calls and messages, plus a whopping 60GB of data. Apparently, they claim they can take care of my existing contract because of some 'special arrangement' they've got going on with a few providers. The pitch is to sign a 24-month contract for the new device, keeping the same SIM and number, all for £30 a month, with an initial fee of £39. To add to the ruse, they've even fired off an email that looks like it’s from Carphone Warehouse, complete with their branding to back it up. However, after examining it closely, it’s clear that it’s haphazardly thrown together with random jpegs and text boxes, and I notice oddities in the font and some dodgy spelling. Although it might appear convincing at first glance, the terms they're offering seem too good to be true. The sheer volume of these calls has led me to believe that I’m definitely dealing with a scam here. Best to block them without a second thought.

I received a call that claimed to be from Carphone Warehouse, promoting an incredible offer to switch my contract. However, since Carphone Warehouse transitioned to Currys back in October 2021, the customer service team have warned me that this sounds rather dodgy. Sounds like it might be a scam!
