Someone's been pretending to be this poor person by spoofing their phone number. I got a call from a dodgy scammer who was actually calling from a completely different number but showed this person's number on my phone. The rightful owner is pretty annoyed about this mix-up and has contacted BT, who then forwarded the issue to the Nuisance Call Centre to deal with it.

I got a call from a number that wasn’t actually theirs - some scammer was pretending to be this poor bloke by spoofing his real phone number. The dodgy call came from somewhere else, but the fake ID made it look like it came from him. Now the real owner is really annoyed and has made a complaint to British Telecom. They’ve handed it over to some sort of “Nuisance Call” team to handle it all.
