I've stopped answering my landline straight away now as I keep getting calls every day from different numbers, usually people pretending to be from internet companies or Amazon. I always do a 1471 check first to see if the number is dodgy. This morning the phone kept ringing for ages, so I finally answered in case it was something urgent, and all I got was a woman with a strange accent saying "hello" before she just hung up. It feels like these scam calls are getting worse and more persistent recently.

I got a call about some washing machine insurance renewal. The bloke kept calling me “love” which was a bit odd. Plus, I struggled to make out what he was saying because of his strong accent.

Its crazy how those scam numbers are still active, even though everyone knows what they are. You'd think they'd be blocked by now but somehow they keep ringing. Why arent they shut down already?

Got a call earlier today, didn’t pick up so I looked them up here. If, as others have mentioned, it’s about renewing washing machine insurance, then whoever’s calling must be using a really outdated list, probably from over two decades ago. I had that kind of insurance about 22 years back but soon found it pointless because there were always extra charges and nowadays, washing machines aren’t too pricey anyway.

Got a call from someone pretending the warranty on my washing machine had run out and they wanted to sell me an extended cover, but that’s not true at all. When I simply asked for the make and model details, they suddenly ended the call. Classic scammer behaviour!
