Then, the number 02089402212 popped up trying to mess with my call blocker, which cost me extra. Not sure if that number is legit or just some scammer trying to cash in on the regular electricity problems here in East Grinstead. Honestly, with these frequent blackouts, this place isn’t exactly ideal to live in.

Between the 7th and 17th of March 2022, this number kept ringing my elderly folks constantly. They even tried sneaking past their call blocker by claiming to be someone trustworthy. Luckily, I’ve updated the phone settings to stop it. I’d recommend not answering at all. After that, they even called my mobile, but I’ve already blocked them.

Over the past few weeks, there have been about 10 calls charged to this number, even tho I never actually made any calls myself! They always show up in the logs around really early in the morning and only ring for a few seconds, but I still end up paying for them. Has anyone got any idea how to put an end to this? I rang True Call earlier today about these calls that keep happening and racking up 41p each time. They said it’s their system just making sure everything’s running fine. Normally, this happens sometime between midnight and 6 in the morning. If those calls aren’t free on your contract, you might want to think about switching to one that won’t charge you extra. Since early September until the start of October 2018, my phone kept dialling the number 020 8940 2212 on its own. I've got a true call box plugged in, and nothing else touches my landline except for that device. Over that period, it called that number six times without me doing anything. Now, I’m actually paying over £5 each month just to stop any outgoing calls from my phone. When I contacted BT, they told me there must be something on the line causing these calls. Just shifted to a new place and hooked up my TrueCall device to my B.T line. When my B.T bill arrived, I saw a charge of 34p for a call, which struck me as odd since I only have broadband and barely use the landline, except on weekends when calls are free. From what I've gathered, it seems the TrueCall rings a number briefly to initialise the call, but I don't recall ever getting charged like this before when I was with Virgin Media.
