When I told him she wasn’t in, he said he’d give her a bell at work on her mobile. He even asked if that was still her number and then repeated it - I didn’t say if it was right or not. Honestly, it’s pretty creepy how they seem to have all this info on us.

FRAUD ALERT Not sure of the bloke's name, but he sounded friendly and even knew my mother-in-law’s name. He claimed our washing machine insurance had run out. As soon as we said we don’t have any insurance on it, he just cut the call without another word.

Got a call at work from someone claiming my Bosch washing machine warranty was nearly up. Thing is, I don't own a Bosch washing machine - never have. When I mentioned that, he asked if I had any other Bosch stuff, which I said no to. Just a few minutes ago, got a call from a bloke who somehow knew my name. Couldn’t make out exactly what he was on about, sounded like something to do with my insurance renewal. When I told him I usually sort that out at the local shop, he just ended the call. If I’d realised he was talking about a washing machine, I’d have clocked it’s dodgy straight away since I don’t bother insuring or getting a warranty on mine. Either way, I reckon it was a scam ‘cos my actual insurer always sends renewal letters through the post.
