Some note the caller used fake employee IDs and became defensive when questioned about account details. The number has been linked to repeated calls and no one speaking when answered, reinforcing suspicions. 8 yearsI answered the call and the phone went dead right away. Sounds like its one of those scams, just like others have said here.8 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be from BT, telling me my broadband was vulnerable to hackers. When I mentioned I actually work for BT, he gave me his name and employee ID, telling me to ring the helpdesk to verify. I pointed put it could be a fake name and they wouldn’t share his ID details anyway. Then he asked how I could prove I was really with BT. I asked where he was based - said HQ at 81 Newgate Street. I also asked why he couldn’t provide my BT line account number. In the end, he just said “I have two words for you. Goodbye” and hung up. Very dodgy.BTNewgate Street8 yearsHe rang up out of the blue, saying my bt line was at risk. Being an it engineer, i spotted straight away it was dodgy. Told him off good, and since then he's rang me back 3 times, even threatening me and my family. What a proper lowlife!8 yearsSomebody rang me, said they were from BT internet, so I told them, "Alright then, let's see where this goes." He kept chuckling at all my replies like he was sure I had no clue it was a scam. Pretty obvious I wasn’t fooled.8 yearsGot a call claiming to be from BT, saying they wanted to help me block "people using my broadband." Thing is, I’m with Virgin. They told me I could check online because BT and Virgin supposedly work together. Yeah, sure. Felt like a setup to get me onto some sketchy site full of malware. No thanks, I hung up straight away.BTVirgin8 yearsGot a call claiming to be from BT saying my internet was hacked and they needed me to get on my computer so they could stop the hacker. I told them I don’t even own a computer, then they asked about a laptop. Told them no again, and as soon as I said that, they just hung up on me. Definitely a scam.BT8 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be BT tech support, but it was definitely a scam.BT8 yearsThey said they were with BT when they called.BT8 yearsI didn’t pick up since the number looked dodgy and I figured it was probably a scam.8 yearsAnswered the phone but nobody spoke, guess it's one of those scam calls again?8 yearsSomebody rang me up claiming to be from the BT internet team, saying my connection had been compromised. I mentioned I’m actually with Virgin Media for my internet, not BT. He insisted that BT’s network was the backbone for all providers (that was me explaining, not him exactly). I told him if he was trying to pull a scam, he should really learn his stuff first. He tried to debate me for a bit, but then he gave up when he saw I wasn’t buying it. Funny thing is, I do have BT for my phone line.BTVirginSubmit Your Own Report (020 8903 3118)
