I received a phone call from some blokes claiming to be from "Windows support," insisting that my laptop was under attack and that I needed to power it up immediately so they could guide me through the "necessary steps." I was incredibly wary of the whole situation and offered to pass the phone over to my husband, who's rather savvy with tech stuff. Oddly enough, they suddenly weren't interested in chatting with him and insisted they could only converse with me! That certainly raised some alarm bells, so I ended the call right away.
