I just had a rather curious phone call from someone claiming to be with BT Openreach, mentioning something about my sluggish broadband connection. Oddly enough, I had just reached out to BT about the same issue less than two weeks ago. Quite the coincidence, isn’t it? Though I felt a bit uneasy, I decided to humour them and stayed on the line for a bit. However, after several minutes of going in circles with no real progress, I promptly hung up.

I got a call from this number earlier and it felt like a bot was behind it - there was this weird silence when I picked up. Then I heard a click and ended up giving my own number out. A guy said hello for a sec and then just hung up. Pretty clear they weren’t expecting much from me, and they were right. We’re on the TPS list, so you’d think it’d block stuff like this, but honestly, it doesn’t seem to do much.

Today I got a call from a lady claiming to be with Openreach about my internet speed. I asked her for my address to check if she really had my details. She then told me a completely different address and a name that wasn’t mine. When I told her she had the wrong person, she ended the call straight away. Right from the beginning I suspected something fishy, especially since she kept calling me ‘Ma’am’. Pretty sure she was fishing for my bank info.

I've received a total of seven calls today, all varying in nature but from the same source. Just two days prior, I had kindly requested that they refrain from contacting me again. When I finally lost my temper and raised my voice, the young lady on the other end had the audacity to tell me not to shout. He went on about my supposed Internet issues, to which I firmly countered, 'No, mate, there’s nothing wrong here, so ta-ta!' and ended the call. Honestly, it's quite amusing how these buffoons persist with their antics. What I can’t wrap my head around is how, despite all the fuss in the news about scams, there are still folks who get duped.
