Got a call earlier today from a woman claiming to be Rose from BT. She said there was something wrong with my internet. I told her everything was working perfectly, I was even online right then. She insisted it was my router that had a virus. When I asked what she planned to do, she just kept going on with some scripted spiel about detecting the virus on their side. I joked that I hoped it wasn’t contagious, then ended the call. The phone rang a couple of times right after, so I just unplugged it.

Got a ring on my home phone from this number but I chose not to pick up, felt like it was just some pointless bother. Turns out I was spot on! Not long after, they rang again but this time it came through as private. Honestly, one of these days I’m going to miss a call that actually matters because of these annoying lot.

A couple of days back, they tried ringing me, but I’ve been feeling really poorly lately, so I didn't pick up on any calls - not even from my own family. After seeing all these posts, I’m actually relieved I didn’t bother. Got a call from an Indian bloke who somehow knew my name, even though I’m ex-directory. He said he was from BT/Openreach and told me I had issues with my router. He wanted me to use my laptop to keep an eye on the repair process, saying it’d be faster than waiting for BT to sort it through the router, which apparently would take ages. When I said I didn’t have a laptop or computer, he just ended the call. Really dodgy scam, especially for folks who aren’t good with tech.

Got a call from these annoying lot thrice today, and it's Bank Holiday too! Missed the first two, and when I finally answered, all I could hear was a loud argument behind the caller, so I just ended it straight away. The bloke reckoned he was calling from Pakistan but the number showed London so who knows what was true. He went on about some supposed illegal stuff happening with my router, asking how many devices were connected. I told him like my microwave, motorbike, PS2, hoover and washing machine just to mess with him. Then he twigged I was winding him up and suddenly started hurling nasty insults about my mum. Honestly, he should really clean his mouth out, what a proper little git.

Then this guy with an Indian accent comes on and blurts out something like "Is there any mother f..." - really rude! Received a rather unpleasant call from someone with a thick accent, claiming to be from BT. He informed me that there had been strange goings-on with my router and that they'd be disconnecting my internet for ten days! Someone said they were from BT Openreach, but after messaging BT and Openreach, both confirmed no one had tried to call us - definitely sounded like a scam to me. My partner, who’s not very tech savvy, believed them and was told to access some odd IP addresses that aren’t linked to BT at all. Luckily, because the local exchange box wasn’t working properly, our broadband was down at the time, so she couldn’t follow through with their instructions.
