I got a ring from that number earlier today. Sounds like a pretty amateur scammer to me. A bloke with an Indian accent kicked off with, “How can I help you today?” I replied, “You’re the one who called me, so how can I help you?” Then he claimed, “I’m from the HMRC legal department, there’s an issue with your income tax. By the way, you called us, we don’t call people.” I couldn’t help but laugh out loud and just hung up. Obviously, that number has nothing to do with HMRC, and it doesn’t even look like a proper London or UK number.
