He had a really thick accent. Called from Nationwide, said it was about a small car crash. I didn’t pick up the first time but they rang again straight away, so I thought maybe it was urgent and answered. What a mistake! Sure, I was in a little accident a while back, but everything got sorted ages ago. Not their concern at all!

Got another call from an unknown number so I just ignored it. This method really does the trick: you shouldn’t ever pick up if you don’t know who it is, no matter how urgent it might seem. If it’s truly important, they’ll make sure the phone shows who’s calling. With all the scams going about, phone calls like this have become useless. Everyone ought to do the same and NEVER answer calls from numbers they don’t recognise!

Got a call from someone claiming I’d been in some sort of crash - barely understood them 'cause they had this strong foreign accent, maybe Middle Eastern? Honestly, if they’re gonna try scamming, they should at least make it a bit more believable.

i asked him where he found my phone number, he said it was from nationwide, then he tried to talk about my car crash, which is weird because i don’t even own a car or drive. i told him to remove my number from their list, but he said he couldnt do that. what a load of rubbish. this number defo needs reporting.

Woman: "I'm ringing about the crash you recently had that wasn't your fault." Me: "Cheers, I've been expecting your call. Obviously it wasn't my fault - I was absolutely wasted when it happened! That daft kid just dashed out in front of my car! If he hadn't done that, there wouldn't have been a crash, so it's definitely on him. Can you help me make him cover the damages to my vehicle? I've got a court date next week." She actually hung up straight away after I asked for help. Definitely not really bothered about the "accident." ;-)

Received a dodgy call today at 18:34 on the 9th of July, 2018. The chap on the other end was nearly impossible to understand. After much squinting through the nonsense, I finally caught his company name: Road Traffic Management. Apparently, it was regarding an accident I supposedly had two years back. Blimey! If I’ve had an accident and haven’t a clue about it, I best book an appointment with my GP at once! Thanks for the heads up - ta-ra for now! I nabbed the number through 1471, by the way.

The guy sounded Indian and claimed he was from South West London. After reading other reviews, I'm thinking Gumtree might be passing on our info to third parties, or maybe some other firm is scraping Gumtree to collect phone numbers.

I received a call today, Wednesday, just before 4pm. I don’t pick up the phone for numbers I don’t recognise. If someone genuinely needs to reach me urgently, they can drop me an email or a message, or ring my mobile instead. Otherwise, they can just take a hike!

I've got loads of missed calls from this number. I answered once by mistake and they started asking about some accident and a payout I was supposed to get. Told them I never had any accident and just to send the cheque they say I’m owed. Then they just cut me off.
