Hey, I’m Ted Allen from Croydon. My phone number’s 02087777777 and I’ve had it for about 35 years now. I’m semi-retired as a plumber these days. I don’t really use that landline much since I mostly use my mobile, which is 07869121869. So I’m really puzzled why my old number is being marked as DANGEROUS - maybe someone’s spoofing it or using it on a computer without me knowing? Ted Allen.

The woman had a distinctly Asian accent. When she asked me to confirm my name, I replied ‘it is’, and I could hear shuffling papers on her end, but then she didn’t say a word after that. I guess I should’ve just said ‘yes’ to stick to their script! I’ve blocked the number now, but I doubt it’ll help much since they’ll probably call back from a different one.

Got a call from someone with a strange accent claiming I owed money. They kept trying to get me to share details but I didn't give them anything. Hello, This is my number 02087777777, which I’ve had for around 40 years. Lately, the amount of calls I’ve been getting is crazy, and unfortunately, it's because someone somewhere is using my number illegally over the internet. Most people are understanding when I explain it’s not me making those calls, but a fraudster pretending to be me. I’ve contacted Ofcom but they won’t do anything. The police fraud department and Sky couldn’t help either, and I’ve reached out to various newspapers with no luck. I’m unable to pick up my phone without spending the whole time clearing things up, which is impossible. This is not me ringing you - it’s a scam call centre. Just to add, the police via ACTION FRAUD gave me a ref: NFRC 140700693460, and their number is 0300 123 2040. Also, OFCOM’s got a ref: 1261517338 with the phone 0300 123 3333. WHICH is running some kind of campaign to fight nuisance calls, so every signature counts. If you’re with BT, maybe tell them about it, could make a difference. I'm on SKY myself (don’t ask what I think of them). Anyway, I’m definitely not the one making these calls. From 02087777777

I received a phone call claiming it was about pensions, but they mentioned my name and address and said I was in an age group I'm nowhere near. When I chuckled and told them they must have the wrong person, they got annoyed. I asked what exactly they wanted, and when I told them to figure it out from my birthdate and send me any questions in writing so I could check them out, they got quite rude. The call ended with them telling me to have a terrible day - pretty sure that was a nasty little insult.
