Since I'd recently filed a couple of tax rebate claims, I thought maybe it was related (their official letter said they'd get in touch by post or phone if needed). Because of this, I pressed 1. Then a man with an Asian accent answered and asked how he might help. I told him about the fraud accusation. I asked how I could be sure he was with HMRC, and he said I should check Google. Just as I was about to look it up, he asked my name so I gave it, and then suddenly the call disconnected.
