This scam is still going strong even now. A family member fell for it and ended up paying £199, but thankfully managed to get his money back thanks to his card protection. I reckon PC World must be selling their customer info to these scammers.

Got a call from someone claiming they could repair my computer. I told him I was with the police and tracking his number, and weirdly he just cut the call off without even a goodbye. Talk about rude!

Got a call recently from this number, it was some bloke with a foreign accent claiming there was a problem with a lady's computer. He said she needed to stay put by the PC so he could fix the issue remotely. Luckily, she wasn’t fooled and got suspicious, asking him questions. He kept dodging and said he’d ring back if she left her place. When she mentioned she’d report him to the police and hand over his number, he just hung up. The person rang up saying there was an issue with my computer. I asked them a few questions to figure out more, and it soon dawned on me that it was some kind of con. As soon as I mentioned this, they just ended the call.

Today I got a call from a bloke called "Alex" who said he was from some IT team, saying there was a problem with my computer. I wasn’t having any of it and told him off before slamming the phone down!

This number kept ringing me, and the bloke who answered said his name was Shaun. He claimed he could fix some problems on my PC that I supposedly had. I just ignored the call and carried on. Then he rang again, so I decided to search the number to see if anyone else had the same experience.

Since I know a bit about computers, I’d advise anyone not to trust strangers who call out of the blue saying your computer has issues. It’s usually a trick to get into your device for dodgy reasons. If you let them in, you risk your computer being hacked and could end up paying quite a bit either for repairs or because they get hold of your bank or card info.

Somebody called claiming my computer had problems and asked for my IP address and all that. I wasn’t having any of it and told them to get lost!

I got a call from someone asking for a person who doesn’t live here, and they also said there was an issue with my computer. Complete nonsense if you ask me. I just told them to leave me alone.

Somebody called me saying they were a computer technician and that there was an issue with my computer. It felt fishy, like a total scam. Weird call!

Somebody rang me up saying there was an issue with my PC and they could fix it. It sounded dodgy, so I didn’t share any info and just hung up straight away.
