I got a call today from this number for the first time, and when I picked up, a recorded voice claiming to be from HMRC started saying that there was an arrest warrant out for me because of tax evasion. It sounded pretty intimidating and told me to follow some steps to avoid getting arrested. Out of curiosity, I tried to play along, but the call ended abruptly. I’m on PAYE and fully employed, so I know there's no way I'd be in trouble, but honestly, it was quite alarming at first.
