I got a call from a 0208 number in London, which I had no clue about. Whenever I pick up, the caller just hangs up straight away. Could this be some sort of scam? I've heard stories about these sorts of calls where if you call back, they might try to clone your phone number. Not entirely sure why they'd do that, but I'd rather not risk it. Better not to ring back if you don't know the number.

Got a couple of calls from some guy who had a fake English-sounding name, sounded Indian. He was saying he could get me a cheaper phone line or something like that. Both times I just ended up hanging up on him, didn't bother with the spiel.

These jokers ring me every single day, saying their company can cut our phone bills if we move over to them. I told this guy, "Dave," it’s a load of rubbish. Then I said if they can't get an engineer here within 4 hours when our lines fail, we want £1000 an hour in compensation. He just hung up on me right after.

Got a call where the guy tried fishing for info before pushing a £16 phone deal on me. I didn’t give a single answer but he still wanted to put me through to some ‘senior manager’ bloke, probably to persuade me hard. I hung up, but he rang me two more times after that. Proper annoying.

I got a call the other day, sounded like some guy in a call centre with that typical background chatter. His accent was so mangled, he struggled just to ask if I owned the house. I told him where to go straight away. Total waste of time, and honestly, not smart enough to come off as threatening or anything.

Got a call from this number, some bloke from a call centre I reckon. Our number's been ours for about two and a half years, before that it belonged to a restaurant. They kept asking for the restaurant owner, and when I told them no, it’s not, the muppet on the other end insisted we were.
