Some bloke rang up saying he was from Legal & General and that my policy needed checking. When I told him I didn’t believe him and that he wasn’t who he said he was, he ended up calling me a daft woman. Quite unpleasant!

I got a call on my mobile from someone who already knew my name and said I could get a discount on my Aviva Life Insurance premium. That caught me off guard since I don’t even have any policy with them! When I questioned them about it, they just hung up on me.

When I pressed him for clarification, he claimed to have connections with every insurance firm going. Once I made it clear I wasn't interested, he began to get quite impolite and aggressive, insisting it wasn’t his fault he was making unsolicited calls. I pointed out my phone is registered with the Telephone Preference Service, to which he responded by shifting the blame onto his employer, stating he’s simply trying to earn a wage.

It’s annoying because these scammers have loads of numbers, so it’s hard to tell if it’s legit or not. Some callers hang up if you start asking questions, or just say something about a policy like they expect you to believe it.
