He quoted the first six digits off my card, which I found out just tells you which bank issued it, not any personal info. Then he said my card had been used in Germany and the US, which was pretty suspicious to me.

Like I’ve mentioned so many times before, it’s best not to pick up calls from numbers you don’t know or ones you didn’t ask for. I’ve now blocked and added this number to my blacklist, but honestly, I reckon the phone companies ought to do more to stop these kinds of calls.

So, these lot call saying they're from SSE, telling you to renew your contract right away because prices are about to rise. The tricky part is, if you even say anything like "yeah, I'd like a better price," they jump on it and claim you've agreed to a whole new verbal contract. Feels like a proper trap!

I picked up the phone but there was total silence on the other end, apart from some muffled noises that sounded like a bunch of people chatting somewhere, probably a call centre. After a few seconds, they just hung up. Seems like one of those automated systems that calls random numbers, but no one was actually there to speak when I answered.
