02086388265 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02086388265 👆 is reported as a nuisance scam originating from various callers, often with foreign accents, falsely claiming the recipient's IP address or internet account has been compromised. The calls typically feature automated messages urging recipients to press a number to speak with a technician or resolve the issue, sometimes threatening disconnection within 24 hours. Many recipients note repeated calls, use of well-known UK ISP names like BT or TalkTalk without verification, and occasional abusive or incomprehensible conduct. The consensus warns strongly against engaging, pressing any numbers, or providing personal information, as these are attempts to defraud or extort money, perhaps via premium rate lines. Users advise blocking the number and alerting phone providers, though blocking can be ineffective and calls persist. Caution and ignoring the calls remain the safest approach.

Received a voicemail from 02082342565 with some automated message claiming I supposedly have a warrant for my arrest and that I'm under investigation for taxes and fraud. It even told me to press 1 if I wanted more info... very obviously just a scam!

Got a message on my landline from some overseas bloke saying my IP address was hacked or something. Don’t get how they even got my number, since I hardly ever share it. I always try to block suspicious calls too. Weird how these scammers find you!

Got a call from these scammers again. Someone really needs to track these people down and stop them. It’s so annoying!

I'm sick of getting calls from this same dodgy IP number. Can't someone do something to block them already?

Just like others, I keep getting calls claiming my IP’s been hacked from another country. They say to press 1 for tech support and even mention a free router. Honestly, these calls are driving me mad, I get a couple or three every single day.

I get calls like this around three times a week, but never from the same number or person. It’s usually different men and women with foreign accents. I just let it ring and keep the line open until they hang up.

Just like many folks here, I got a recorded call saying my IP address was at risk. Didn’t wait around to hear everything, I just ended the call right away.

My answerphone caught a prerecorded voice warning that my IP had been hacked, but I just ignored it. Sounds like a total scam to me. Being into tech stuff myself, I've never heard of anyone actually getting calls about their IP like that.

Got a call from an unknown number when I wasn’t really available. The recorded voice told me to hit 1 if I wanted to talk or whatever. Yeah right, not a chance!!!

Got a dodgy call earlier. I just ended it straight away and ignored their silly prompts to punch any buttons on my phone. Don’t bother messing about with it!

Got a call from someone claiming to be my internet provider, threatening to cut off my service. They didn’t mention which company though. Be careful, sounds like a scam to me!

Doesn’t it seem like the phone company must be in on this scam too, since they’re getting something out of it as well?

Got a missed call earlier, then left a voicemail saying my IP address was hacked from abroad and to press 1 to talk to a tech expert. Thought about giving them a mouthful but just ended up hanging up instead.

I've had this happen on both my landline and my prepaid mobile. It's an automated call telling you to press 1 to reach TalkTalk customer service or press 2 for more options. I reckon if anyone who actually uses TalkTalk answers, they might end up on a pricey premium rate number and be stuck listening for ages. When I tried calling the number back, I just got a "fault" message and couldn't get through. Seems like loads of folks fall for it otherwise these crooks would have given it up by now.

Like I mentioned, someone overseas has been getting into my internet and I reckon they got my details from a survey I took. That phone number is the one I always put down for those surveys.

Got a voicemail telling me my internet service would be switched off in a day. Not sure what kind of trick this is but be careful out there.

Got a call on my landline telling me my internet was hacked and I needed to talk to a tech or they'd cut me off in a day. No chance! Why doesn’t BT just block these numbers? This is the second time this week I’ve got one of these calls. It’s so annoying, but what really gets me is thinking about older folks who might actually believe it. They’re really preying on the vulnerable.

It’s just awful how these cheats prey on people who don’t stand a chance! Honestly, I don’t get why phone companies don’t track them down and cut them off. They’re cashing in big time from all these horrible calls, it’s disgusting!

Just like loads of others here, I got a call saying my IP was hacked and to hit 1 for a tech expert. Honestly, you'd think they reckon I'm daft with the way they go on. Didn't fall for it though, I just hung up straight away. These types are proper annoying, and I wish they'd get busted already, but I guess BT wouldn't be too happy about that since they make money from it or something.

Got a call from someone saying my internet had problems but they never said which company or gave a name. It was all automated, and they told me to press 1 to speak to someone, but felt more like a trick to charge me. My internet is working fine, so steer clear of this one!

Got calls from some sketchy folks claiming my internet’s down, real annoying! Wish there was a way to block these numbers properly. If only some US company could take legal action and make them pay - maybe even against Trump or something.

Got a call from this number earlier today. They kept saying “hello” a few times and then mentioned something about the technical dept and offered help. I told them that it was them calling me, not the other way around. After that, the bloke started rambling in terrible English that I could barely make out, so I just ended the call. Honestly, it’s ridiculous how these scammers can't even get someone who speaks decent English to talk to people - speaks volumes about how low-effort these scams are.

Got a call on my phone mid-morning from someone saying they were with BT. When I asked a few questions, they mentioned the BT office on Newgate Street and even got the postcode right. The voice was a bit hard to catch, but they definitely had my mobile number and even knew my home address. They told me that my IP had been copied and was being used abroad with my phone for some dodgy stuff. The bloke said his name was Shaun and sounded pretty genuine. He tried to get me to open Google on my phone, but I said no and that I was busy, telling him to call later. Haven’t heard anything since.

On the 29th of April 2019 I got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Internet Security. He had an Asian accent, but before I could ask anything, the call just dropped. Pretty obvious it was a scam though, and a rubbish one at that. I was half-expecting him to say he was from Windows so I could cheekily ask if it was Everest or Anglian!

I had been out when this number showed up on my phone as a missed call. Right before that, a mate had rung, and my lovely wife, assuming it was the same person, wrote down to ring back. When I did call, I got someone speaking with a strong Asian accent, saying something like "Security department, how can I assist you?" and instantly I suspected it was a scam! I wished I’d thought to tell them I worked for BT and there was some issue with their line. Instead, I just said cheers and ended the call.

A guy with a strong Indian accent called claiming to be David from BT, telling me my internet provider was hacked or something. His accent was so thick it was hard to catch what he was saying, and he got really irritated when I kept asking him to say things again. Got a call earlier from a guy saying he was from TalkTalk, or something like that. He spoke with a pretty thick Indian accent and wanted to talk to John. When I told him there’s no one called John living here, he got all annoyed. Then he started asking exactly where he was calling from, but I told him that wasn’t something I needed to share and told him to buzz off. He ended the call pretty quick after that - not sure what his game was.
