Got a prerecorded voice claiming to be from HMRC, saying if I didn’t act fast I’d face legal trouble. They asked me to press a number to talk to someone. I hung up straight away since I’ve heard this type of thing before and have already reported it to HMRC.

Got another call from some bloke claiming the government owes me £2000 back. He even knew my name. Ended the call straight away. Surely if it’s legit, it’d come from an official government number you can check. If it seems a bit too good, it usually is. Proper dodgy scam. Not impressed 👎

I didnt get the name of the lady but she said she was calling from the Ministry of Justice. She claimed the UK government was giving back £3000 for bank fees. I told her I'd never paid any bank fees so how could I be overcharged? She just repeated the same thing again, then I laughed and she ended the call.

I chose not to pick up since the number wasn't saved in my contacts, but the area code suggests it’s from London, where my family lives. Curiously, they didn’t bother leaving a message. I appreciate the insights shared by others, as it reaffirms that this appears to be a “virtual” number being used by someone.

On the 22nd of April, 2019, I received a call from a woman named Susan Wang, who claimed that I was in line to receive a sum of £3000 from the bank. She mentioned that a chap by the name of Nigel Cole, identifying himself as a representative of the Ministry of Justice, would be stopping by my residence with the cheque. She insisted I needed to have some form of photographic identification ready for him. She also provided me with a reference number related to the credit matter and a contact number [0114360578] to ring if Mr. Cole failed to show up. Interestingly, at no point was I asked for my bank account details or required to make any sort of payment.

I received a rather dodgy call from someone posing as an HMRC representative, demanding a hefty sum of £2000 in unpaid taxes. A guy with a really thick Asian accent called, and we could barely make out what he was saying but he managed to get past the call blocker. He said he was from the Ministry of Justice and wanted to send my wife £3000. She wasn't having any of it and told him to buzz off, then ended the call. He rang back asking why she'd hung up, so she told him again to leave us alone and stop calling. After that, I blocked the number for good.

Got a call from 02086386287, some woman called Susan Wang with the usual tale about the Department of Justice sending me a cheque for £3000 later that day. She said I’d need to send ID like my passport or driving licence, and apparently 5% would have to go to the Inland Revenue. There was more to it but I ignored it since random calls like these are illegal. I’ve reported it to the police and Action Fraud. Pretty sure Inland Revenue wouldn’t just take 5% anyway.

My partner wasn’t having it and told her off before hanging up quick sharp.

Earlier today, on the 15th of April 2019, I received a call from this number claiming to represent the government, saying I was entitled to a rather remarkable sum of £3,000.00 due to excess bank charges. They were all too keen to congratulate me on this unexpected windfall. Well, let’s just say my reply wasn’t exactly genteel; let’s just put it this way-I suggested an interesting way for them to pass the time, preferably somewhere a train could have a word with them. The caller had an incredibly pronounced Asian accent, which only added to the absurdity of the whole situation.

Got a ring from 02086 386287 saying they were from the Ministry of Justice, offering a £3000 refund because of bank overcharging. The voice came across like it was from an Indian call centre. They mentioned a solicitor would come round to give the refund, totally free, but insisted I buy a £150 Google Play voucher to cover a 5% tax for HMRC. Apparently, the solicitor would 'stamp' it as proof (I reckon they wanted the code for themselves!).
